With the closure of Brothers III (hopefully temporary), it got me thinking... what are some of the cheapest bars in New Orleans? I’m not talking about happy hour prices. I’m talking about when a man, or a very strong woman, gets off the late shift and wants to pound back 10 or 12 before waking up in a couple hours to drive the kids to school.

Personally, I think $3.50 for a domestic beer is a bit pricey. I know Ms. Mae’s is cheap. The Chart Room sometimes has Miller High Life on draft. Whatcha got?

If the Wheel of Booze at The Goldmine lands on dollar longnecks then you are in business.

Down the Hatch has some cheap arse beer, plus it's a solid place for game day.

I hear the drunk tank at Central Lockup has 3 hots and a cot for such endeavors.

Roberts Bar and Handsome Willy's were cheap staples back in the day, it appears that Willy's is closed now though.

I didn’t know Handsome Willy’s has closed. Hadn’t been there in a few years.

It’s always good if a place has a courtyard or tables so you can light up a cigar.

Back patio at St. Joe’s Bar. Closest thing you’ll get to a Thai beach bar in the city and $3 hi life’s.

I love St. Joe's and it's got a divey feel, but I've never considered them cheap

I'm no regular, but I haven't seen the back patio bar open in years.

It’s been in service for the past 3 years. It may only be open on certain nights though.
