This was the guy for whom there wasn't enough to charge him when the rest of the crew were getting massive charges of murder, torture, rape.

But people didn't give up accumulating evidence, and a trip to the grand jury lead to this trial.

If you don't know the cases, you need to. That Channon was kidnapped, tortured for several days, had lye thrown into everywhere she had been raped and that her eyes were still open when they placed her body in a metal drum, closed the lid where she suffocated.....and there were pictures of her body. Chris was kidnapped, tortured and burned to death.

And the national media didn't notice.

Of course.

Dog bites man isn’t news. Man bites dog is.

Thus, a young white couple being horribly raped, tortured, and killed isn’t “news”.

They all should have died by firing squad.

I remember this one, I had assumed they were already in jail over this. One of the ones I stopped following cause I swear I thought those Dindus were already on death row

I’m curious as to why this guy will eventually be eligible for parole.

Seems like life w/o possibility of parole would be the bare minimum for those crimes.

Utterly sickening.

We need torture as another form of criminal punishment.

This has been all over the news here lately, but I wasn't living here when it happened and don't remember hearing about it until this recent trial.

It’s the single worst crime I can remember growing up in East Tennessee.

All because they were white.

Their parents' reactions show the difference between big cities where deaths don't seem to matter, and a city where people do care.

There was also a lawyer in California advising them and who wouldn't let them give up on getting the multiple convictions of Eric Boyd.

quote:

"Our final goodbye to Chris...we embraced him in his body bag. We were not allowed to see him," Hugh Newsom, Chris's father, said. "At that particular time, Mary and I both promised we would not stop until Eric Boyd was prosecuted for killing him."

quote:

Gary Christian agreed and said though the family's days in court are not over, the trial's conclusion provides solace. "We'll never get justice on this Earth, but I think we got them all the best we can," Gary Christian, Channon's father, said. "And that's what I promised my daughter, that they wouldn't hurt anybody else."

quote:

"I can go to my grave now satisfied that I fought a good fight," Hugh Newsom said.

There used to be a black power website lauding these things as heroes. Black foot soldier. It was a website frequented by "moderate" black activist across the country.

That story hardly got any press in the western part of the state.

I wonder why the national media chose to ignore it?

Glad there was some level of justice.
