overnight... made a round trip run from Pineville, La. to Baytown, Tx

I know that doesn't sound like a lot... but there were underlying issues involved that made the ride kinda tense that I'd rather not get into here

I'll just say I had a passenger on the ride going and was alone on the ride back (yes all persons involved were alive at the end of the trip... though there was a moment where I wasn't sure I would be)

That's crazy

I can't drive more than 9 hours at a time. I've done a lot of cross country road trips but I start to lose my mind at the 9 hour mark or so. Each time I do a multi day road trip I plan out my stops to where I drive no more than 8 to 9 hours per leg.

The longest I have done is Vail, CO to Tulsa, OK. 11 hours. It was horrible. I told myself never again.

Use to drive from Monroe to Grand Junction twice a year for 3 years: to Dallas; North through the heart of Oklahoma all the way to Salina, KS, and then West on 70 all the way to Denver and then through the mountains to Grand Junction.

This thread.....

Bruh, come at me.

Reading thru this thread is crazy.. . i love road trips, i mean love them- but some of you dudes driving 17 hrs or 22 hrs straight without stopping makes me cringe... Who are you competing against? Is this Cannonball Run IV?

Agree. Unless you have a hard deadline, for me part of the fun of roadtrips is stopping somewhere and being able to explore where you are staying for the night

I am pretty formulaic. I like to leave where I stayed that before the sun gets up and get to my destination in the early afternoon.

It's actually not too bad if you do it in the day as the scenery is really nice, especially once you get into Nevada and can see the Lake Mead area

But at night you can't see any of that

I don’t know whether to consider myself lucky or not to not have had to make any of those types of trips in my life. Never had any need to make a trip over 500 miles without stopping. Closest I’ve come is Corpus to Abilene area to see my wife and kids for a meal and then on to Tulsa in less than 15 hours.
