H2A labor I pay 11.50 an HR.

I provide housing with all amenities / direct TV/ internet, ...the works.

Even if that’s all a young person made starting out, in many other blue collar industries, say mechanic, a/c, pipefitter, welder, plumber, etc etc they would/could be making way more than that after just a couple of years. Double and triple that after 5-10.

And who wants to live with a bunch of other hard legs and not on their own.

What if someone doesn’t want to live in the housing? Do you give them the monetary equivalent instead or is it live in the sharecropper camp or no job?

They're free to find what ever housing they wish like most other jobs in this country?

Do you understand the concept of total compensation?

How long did it take you to figure that out?

It’s your #1 expense too.

It will only get worse with more government rules and regulations.

50,000 a year isn't crap wages. I'm not looking for college educated doctor and a lawyers. I'm looking for a high school graduate who wants to stay in his Podunk home town with no other job opportunities instead of smoking meth and chasing a pipeline.

Most of you guys have no clue of what Ag labor consist of. They aren't on some frickin cotton row singing swing low sweet chariot picking cotton by hand. They are sitting on 300,000 dollar tractors with auto steer ,Bluetooth and cold air blowing on their nut sacks.

I do and it sounds like his total compensation package is designed solely to attract migrant workers..then he wonders why he only has migrant workers.

Because migrant workers don't qualify for welfare? Again, why work the fields when you can sit at home and collect a check?

Or why take a job where a huge chunk of the compensation is housing, when you already have a home...

11.50 is starting wage for immigrant workers. No immigrant in the H2A program can make more that an American worker. Some of my immigrant workers make 15 an HR. So therefore starting wage for American laborer is 15 am HR. With 40 hrs a week guaranteed 52 weeks a year.

Most of my American employees are on a salary with incentives. Base salary before incentives is about 50,000 give or take 5,000 based on employee

A lot of people now days are lazy and don’t want to work . It seems like hard working people have to pick up the slack . I think get burned out carrying the load and they start to slack off . I think it has to do with companies are scared of getting sued so they keep lazy people instead of firing them . If everyone was payed for there production then people would work harder.

I wouldn’t want to explain this to the Labor board if I was you..I can’t imagine most farm jobs meets one of the listed exemptions..a labor lawyer should have fun on the farm

Or maybe the compensation is set up to appeal to the people who will actually take the jobs instead of sitting at home and drawing a taxpayer check?

People hungry for the American dream. I remember when nativeborn Americans didn't feel so entitled.

The fish processing plants operate like this. 30 years ago it was college kids living in tents for the summer. Now it's mainly foreigners in company housing.

Surely you don't think they are too proud to get on the government teat.

Ask yourself this question: “Why am I not on the government teet, and what makes me different from those First Generation Americans of Mexican Ancestry?”

Are those the only options? I’m pretty sure there are other options. It’s not like we are sitting with 20% unemployment.

Pay all of your "employees" 50K plus benefits and I bet you have AMERICANS lined up to ride your tractors. Personally, and just my opinion, you sound like you are full of shite.

We also have a labor issue but our company employs 100% American citizens. We make it work.

FTR I have no issue with using legal immigrants, we just choose not to.
