New NCAA agent rules believed to intentionally exclude NBA super agent Rich Paul

On Tuesday, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported that the NCAA placed eligibility restrictions on who qualifies to represent those prospective NBA players. One of those rules disqualifies Paul.
quote:
Paul doesn’t have a bachelor’s degree. He famously built his career after he met LeBron James at the Cleveland airport while selling throwback jerseys out of his car. James bought some of his jerseys, and the two built a friendship and professional relationship. Now Paul represents James, Anthony Davis, Draymond Green and Ben Simmons among several other high-profile NBA clients.
quote:
But per the new NCAA rule, he is not eligible to advise NCAA players who wish to maintain their college eligibility.
Did the NCAA specifically have Paul in mind when they set these new criteria? Who knows? It’s unclear why the NCAA would specifically target Paul.

The emojis really ruin the flow. He tweets like a 50 year old mom trying to be hip.

At this point wouldn’t it be pretty easy for him to get an degree just taking classes online?

Once a hustla always a hustla.

It would be easy if he could pass an online class.
ETA: The man is the epitome of right place right time. He’s built his career off of conning people who are inexplicably dumber than himself.

Rich Paul fricked AD out of $104m... Don’t worry, though - Rich Paul makes $0 out of AD’s contracts, he only makes his money off AD’s endorsements.
Sleezy POS unfortunately doesn’t have to abide by any sort of ethical rules.

TIL I'm a more qualified agent than Rich Paul

It doesn't mean much, he would just sign them once they've decided they're leaving.
He could also just get an agent with those qualification to work for Klutch as their NCAA adviser. The solutions are so simple that I doubt the NCAA had blocking him in mind when they came up with the rule.

Lebron is the absolute worst.

This doesn't really do much at all

Organization involving student-athletes wants someone trying to sign them to have a four year degree or better? This is my fricking shocked face.

Is this true? If it is, then AD is a bigger moron than I thought. It good to tie your salary with the agents—he’ll work harder. His agent had no incentive at all to get him a better contract.

Depends on how you look at it.
He cost AD $4m straight up in a trade kicker by convincing him it could be made up in endorsements, which RP gets a cut of. RP wouldn’t have gotten shite from that kicker.
The $100m is the difference between the deal he likely gets this coming offseason and the Supermax extension he was eligible for with the Pels.
I don’t necessarily blame Paul for this one because AD’s dumb arse seemed convinced he wanted out, he just wanted Rich Paul to play bad guy to pull it off.

Exactly. This is like claiming the NFL/NFLPA are intentionally excluding someone as an agent because the person in question doesn't have a law degree or didn't pass the certification exam.
This is simple stuff in an attempt to protect the players.

He couldn’t get a better contract. He was getting the max. He did cost him some money as pels can offer more

AD clearly didn’t care about the money.... either way he rich... plus he gets the bonus of not having to spend another fall/winter/spring in Louisiana...
I love Louisiana by the way
