I think that, after his summer league performance, KBW was hoping to get someone to offer him a 2-way contract. When that didn't happen, the Exhibit 10 with us makes a lot of sense because of the 50k bonus.

After this summer, I definitely think KBW can eventually make an NBA roster. I thought he had a better summer than Cheatham.

so dawkins, williams, cheatham and bess will be the erie bayhawks players under contract.

there will be an expansion draft to fill out the rest of the roster on 8/28:

quote:

The BayHawks will select 14 players total to replace the players rights moving to the College Park Skyhawks, and no existing team can lose more than two players from the draft.
Existing teams will be able to protect up to 12 players’ rights from the draft according to league sources.
The deadline to submit lists will be Aug. 20. Erie will hold these new player rights for two seasons as is standard for expansion drafts.

According to this site, the Pels also have Jalen Adams on an Exhibit 10.

The Pels finally have a GLeague team with 2 former Tigers on it and they play all the way up in Pennsylvania.

I wonder if the GLeague will become more watchable as NBA teams pour resources into them. Maybe that’s the midseason tournament Silver should be looking at. The stars take a midseaon rest and the top GLeague teams get a moment in the spotlight.

Lovely idea tiger. The G league should be more popular.

This may have been answered before, but other than the 2-way and Exhibit 10 guys, do the Pels have any special connection to the rest of the players on the Bayhawks?

No. This is a brand new expansion team. That’s why cgrand mentioned an expansion draft. The old Eerie Bayhawks are moving to the ATL to become the Skyhawks. Since Birmingham wasn’t ready and Eerie just lost a team, we’re using their facilities and local business people in the short term but the basketball side of things is run by the Pels.

since i have no idea what an exhibit 10 contract really is:

quote:

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal worth the minimum salary that guarantees the player will receive a camp invite. A player can either have his Exhibit 10 converted into a two-way contract, or will be waived. If he is waived, the player will be offered $50,000 to sign with the G League affiliate of whomever waved them. Provided he stays on the roster for 60 days, he will earn that $50,000 bonus. The Exhibit 10 contract was created to incentivize players to stay in the G League as opposed to going abroad.

quote:

A team can’t carry more than six Exhibit 10 contracts at a time, and an Exhibit 10 contract can only be converted to a two-way deal before the regular season begins. Even though an Exhibit 10 contract that gets converted to a two-way deal can later also turn into a standard NBA contract, it won't count against an NBA team's salary cap.

Also. You can go into the camp only with 20 players under contract. Two-way and Ex-10 included.

So Pels have 3 Ex contracts.

One of Bess, Adams, Williams pr Dawkins has to go.
