I have a lightbulb in our bathroom that’s been working for over 20 years

We moved into our house in October of 1998. That bulb is still working. What’s weird is that it gets turned on and off about 5 or more times a day. I could understand a bulb lasting a long time if it stays on all the time. But not the case with this bulb.
Anybody else experience a bulb like this?

Yep. I think the longest lasting bulb in our house is in the bathroom too. The light on the ventilation fan thingy. Meanwhile I change the bulbs in my bedroom like every six months.

Had one in a hallway that was still working when the family moved out, 20+ years in that house and that light bulb was never changed. It was a 130V rated bulb though, which might be what you have. Thicker tungsten element and more supports.

These new LED bulbs aren't worth a crap. I'm changing them just as often as old monofilment bulbs

I really hate the bright LED bulbs that are on every shelf these days. I just want a soft white light that has a yellowish tint and gives the room a warm feeling.

Our LED lights last a long time.

Those damn recessed cans in the kitchen seem to go out once a year.

When we built our current house in 2000, the kitchen has some can lights. I have yet to replace one of those bulbs.

Each bathroom sink and the dining room table light have these clear, round bulbs, about 3" wide, and squatty. I have 17 of them in my house. We built the house in 2001 and bought a case of 12 of them.

I have had to replace 2 in 18 years.

If you put a light on a dimmer and put 80-100 volts instead of 120 or whatever they last a LOT longer. That’s probably what you have as said OP is a light made for 130+ volts and I bet you have close to 100 going to it.

The issue with LED’s is not name brand at all, it’s that a lot of them are straight up scams. Even the big names make shitty LED’s on purpose, to make money. There are LED’s rated for 5,000 hours and LED’s rated for 50,000+. A lot of the ones in big box stores are rated for 7500 hours and then there are some marketed as ‘twice the lifespan’ for 15,000. When if you look online you can very easily find 25,000 hour bulbs.
