Weezer and Muse are incredible at sounding exactly like you know them. Who else besides Journey?

I'll say Carrie Underwood.... she hits every note and sounds so crisp.

Eagles, Fleetwood Mac
Both are great live bands

Alt-J and garbage are probably the two most technically perfect bands I've seen.

Dream Theater
Coheed and Cambria
You can also divide this category into entire band v vocals. Plenty of bands will sound perfect live but vocals not so much.

I don't really want a band's live performance to sound just like the album. I prefer to see outstanding musicianship and unique presentation. That is what sets apart bands like The Who and The Doors. You always knew you were getting something special when they played a concert. You can hear the studio versions any time. You may only see them live once. Make it memorable.

I've seen RHCP twice and was impressed at how good they sounded.
Steely Dan sounds exactly like their recorded music.

A band that sounds exactly like their album during a live show is a crappy live band imo. A Live band should have some extra grit or soul, otherwise why go see them?

Tom Petty in a bad way (agree with the other poster about adding something new at the live show--exception would be ramones...hard to add to a 1:30 song). bands that sound like the album tend to be boring on stage too.

Jethro Tull were great in the Municipal Auditorium in the mid-70’s.

Mumford and sons or I was peaking.

I saw Pearl Jam years ago at Tad Gormley and they sounded just like their albums generally speaking. I’ve seen ZZTop 3 times and they were great every single time.
And when I think just like the album, I mean they sound like they did on the album and not like the beauty and precision of their music was generated via editing/manipulation. If live music sounds EXACTLY like the album, I think lip syncing and faux instrument playing.

Perhaps I missed your point, but I prefer the live show to NOT sounds exactly like the albums.
I’d much rather see sit-ins, a few covers, jam sessions, etc.
