Crap. I held off reading this thread until I finished the series only to find that this place is full of guys trying to de-stigmatize rape. WTF?
Same! Finished the season last night and immediately came here and thought I was on the damn Poli board.
Show was amazing. I never read the comics so I am not aware of any changes being made for the tv show. Regardless, I enjoyed every second of it and can't wait for season 2. Just wish I didn't binge through it all in 2 days.
Starlight is so fine, but yet keeps that classy innocent look. When her and Hughie finally knock it out and her eyes light up I thought to myself "damn Hughie probably feels like such a boss right now" . I like how they were able to keep her character true to herself while never coming off too preachy. She's an innocent girl who understands mistakes can be made and physical intimacy doesn't make you the devil.
There's not a single character I would change/recast of "the Boys". Mothers Milk was perfect. Frenchie was perfect. Butcher was perfect. Hughie was perfect. They are all so different yet they come together so well. Kinda like....the spice girls! HA! Did anyone else have trouble understanding Frenchie and Butcher at the beginning? I watched with subtitles just for them to make sure I didn't miss anything they said.
I kept finding myself liking Homelander even though I know he's the driving force of all things bad. I love how much thought and planning goes into his decision making. The last episode where he says he goes back to find out the real truth from Vogelbaum was great. Can somebody help me understand where Stillwell's and Vogelbaum's stories didn't match up? Idk if I just missed it, or it was just something we were to assume was true.
ENDING SPOILER...…
I really hope season 2 shows that Homelander forced Becca to have sex with him. If all of it was done willingly like he said, all of Butcher's actions would have been for nothing and take away the value of it all.

SPOILERS
Vogelbaum made it sound like the birth of Satan's spawn gone terrifyingly wrong. Stillwell passed it off as a simple miscarriage.
END SPOILERS

Ah. So I didn't miss it. I'm just dumb and didn't put two and two together haha.
Thanks.
Thanks.

In the first explanation the mother and baby died. The baby clawed its way out of her.
With the miscarriage story, Homelander realizes that not only do the two explanations or stories not match, but that with a miscarriage, the mother (Becca) probably lived.

It wasn't a huge clue. She minimized the situation and you could see he took a beat to wonder why she'd do that.
I didn't think much of it other than she was being a bitch. Then he dropped that truth bomb on her later and it made sense.

The simulation only has the Trinity surviving all out war with the Boys. All The Boys and The Deep, A-Train, Jack From Jupiter, and Starlight are expected to go down.

End spoilers.

More importantly, with how the season ended.
In comics, The Deep while having the quirk of believing his backstory too much was the voice of pragmatic reason of the original 7.
A-Train was the young gun just moved on the team. Since they switched them, I'm thinking A-Train will take on a lot of character development into the pragmatic voice next season.

Since Jack From Jupiter doesn’t exist here, I wonder if someone else gets his little fetish that gets him into so much trouble.
Granted, they already seem to be taking a similar direction on The Deep given his interactions with sea life.

Apparently Amazon nixed a scene where Homelander jerks off while flying over the city
They filmed it and everything but amazon said hell no

Someone getting bukkaked by a bunch of pre-op trannies is probably off the board then.

So that's what I like and don't like about Translucent.
He shouldn't have been in the Seven.
Give him his own brand.
Have the kidnapping happen. But have The Boys turn him into an asset and have him as the other side of the coin to Mesmer.
Wasted potential taken up the Martian Manhunter spot and being killed off too soon.

Speaking off, much as I liked Monkey's scenes in the comic. It was a good choice to leave him out along with the Raynor gag.

I think Jack was specifically excluded for cost reasons.
Covering up some jackass with black tactical clothing is cheap.
Making someone appear like an yellow-orange Martian is more costly in terms of special effects in part because the existing uniform doesn’t cover up much of anything.

Monkey, while entertaining, was part of making The Boys an unofficial arm of the CIA.
If you have them as a rogue entity instead of being CIA, you don’t need the guy who whacks it to para-Olympian.

I can see this show will need a Hodor thread.

The timeline change kinda fricked The Boys over.
With them originally being Mallory's vengeance team backed by the CIA after decades of him scrapping for it. Then Lamplighter going nuts when they finally checked the Seven and then disbanding.
Time skip
Hughie's story starts and Raynor with orders from Dakota Bob (President) restarts the team as Vought American keeps getting shadier.

I actually would prefer that it was willing because that leaves Butcher in a place where he is forced to transform or die pushing his character into unknown territory. He has to redefine his purpose from revenge into something greater.

Naw it's different enough that both are their own entity.
Believe wasn't even a thing until the last volume or so.
The way V is used is different.
Even the Supes in the Military is a different thing in the comics.
This isn't like Game of Thrones where it stayed the samish until they lost the threads.
