Is Entergy the Worst Power Company?

I know Entergy has established itself as a one of the nation’s largest utilities and operates several nuclear power plants some of which are outside of its geographical service territory.
But the distribution problems that Entergy is dealing with with just this minimal storm event are troubling. It has been posted on this board some of the issues such as lack of preventative maintenance such as swapping rotten poles and clearing trees from transmission lines. I know they are going to come back to the PSC for a new Storm Adjustment fee just to just to bill is for those repairs.
I know some of these issues may not be Entergy’s fault such as planting trees near transmission lines, and limiting access to lines with fences.
Entergy has done some investment into new lines, I know in the South Lafourche area they recently replaced a Main Feeder that was on wooden polls with Metal poles and moved the main feeder to Grand Isle and Fourchon closer to the road on metal poles so they don’t have to go into the Marsh to repair the lines if they fail.
With all of the recent storms you would think Entergy would be implementing new strategies for distribution to reduce storm outages.

Hell they ran conduit to island and never ran the wire. Pipe is still open ended probably full of water.

I guess you haven’t recently seen the large outage in NY that wasn’t caused by a storm?
I guess you also are not aware they lead the industry in power restoration? Let me not forget towards the lowest $/kWh?
Weather happens and trees snap. Majority of these outages are not due to poor poles, but rather tree limbs and trees that were mature and haven’t been through a storm in several years.

My understanding is that Entergy is one of the best in the power providing business.

People are quick to judge without knowing the details.
I believe Entergy is one of the best in the nation in restoration time.. perhaps they can be better at prevention, I don't know how they rank there.

Their stock price shows that to. Ranks in the top quartile among nation wide competitiors.

Entergy also appears committed to nuclear power which should be our future.

I wonder if deregulating the marketing, account setup, service calls would give an opportunity for better operations and metrics from Entergy without an increase in price to consumer. Let them focus on utilities and not customer service. These utility companies seem hard to hold to account given the overarching contracts and our dependence on them. So, it might also be worth looking inward at the government folks who manage the contract to make sure they are delivering and impose real consequences for bad metrics.

I’m happy the power went out for some of the lazy bastards around here. Go read a book while using candle light to see.

Entergy is actually one of the better companies out there. Especially their line crews. They are some hard working bastards. If you want to blame anyone for our infrastructure, blame our state government.

You want to make a monopoly LESS accountable?

I had no idea so many people work for Entergy on this board.
Deregulation would certainly help improve things in Louisiana for rates and service.
If you don't like Entergy charging a fee for each hurricane on your monthly bill, you simply move to a different provider.
They get reimbursed by insurance yet want to gouge homeowners and charge a monthly fee for each hurricane that impacts Louisiana.

Yes, but they are at least more reliable than tigerdroppings.com.

They’re the only company to blackout a Super Bowl so there is that.

Yeah I can’t believe Entergy is hesitant spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve the services to huge population centers like Fourchon and Grand Isle.

Is it crazy to have only one option? My time in Texas we had several providers to choose.
Edt: they aren't ATT but close.
