The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul, first-round picks in 2024 and 2026, pick swaps in 2021 and 2025, league sources tell ESPN.
Houston hoped to find third-team destination preferable to Chris Paul, but ultimately leaves it OKC to execute next step once Presti confers w/ CP3 agent Leon Rose. Miami remains possibility for Paul (3 years, $124M) -- and OKC obviously has picks to incentivize deal, if needed.

I don’t know what the frick either side is doing here.
OKC may get more picks but Paul doesn’t save them much money or make them better on the court.
And Houston will only have one ball for Westbrook and Harden to share.

CP3 to OKC proves you can go home again

Did the NBA change the rule to two balls during the offseason?

What is the purpose of getting those picks if you’re getting back Paul. Wtf.

Looking forward to seeing Ball/Jrue vs these two

OKC doesnt care about winning anyways and now they'll have CP3 to mentor SGA, instead of Westbrook. They also get more picks in the deal. Makes sense for OKC, but I don't really see the benefit for Houston.

Paul's deal ends a year earlier. I'm guessing this says that pretty much nobody else wanted Russ and his horrible contract.

Remember when we had the best treasure trove of picks? I remember.
Pretty soon the average age of that team is going to be 21.

which makes Paul's contract a better asset sooner

Mother f*ck! Once again, some team gets overextended on a contract (Paul) and some other moronic front office swoops in and bails them out
Sometimes it feels like the NBA just writes a check to an owner and says "we need you to take one for the team on this one"

Thunder will have picks from the Clippers, Heat, and Rockets.
Clippers and Rockets will likely be in the high 20s.
No fricking clue on the Heat because the East is a shite show.

The benefit for houston is a non hostile locker room. Harden and Chris Paul just couldnt exsist any longer on the same team.

The benefit to Houston is Cp3 and Harden hated each other and Paul was always hurt
At least now Harden won’t be dog arse tired by the time the playoffs come around
