Looking for a decent scope for my .270 for deer hunting. Max range is probably 200 yds. Would like something with some decent visibility at dusk/dawn. Anything out there in $300 range. Can’t really afford those super high end scopes. What you baws got?

Still a fan of Redfield Revolutions.

I'm like you and just can't justify spending big money on a scope to shoot 200 yards. Have always liked Leupold scopes but picked up a Nikon Pro-Staff 5 on sale last year and have been really impressed with it.

I've had a redfield for 5 or 6 years. Dropped my 308 (unloaded) 25 ft from a tree and it was off 4 inches.

I bought a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x50 last fall for my '06 and really like it. Decent glass but for me the selling point was great eye relief and a pretty forgiving eye box. Think I paid 249.00 on sale.

My BIL has a Nikon prostaff with a BDC reticle on a browning 270. It is dependable out to 200yds using good factory ammo. Scope holds zero from recoil. I'm partial to leupolds. Put a vx freedom on my 45-70 and sighted it for 100yds. Satisfied so far, stands up to recoil, drilled a nice 8pt with it last season.

Most people will knock this ,because it is a relatively inexpensive scope that you can pick up at Academy; however, the Vortex Crossfire II is really a bargain.

I would pick a lightly used Leupold VX3 up off of rokslide or longrangeshooting personally. If you wanted budget new the Nikon prostaff's served me very well for typical whitetail hunting.

100% Vortex.. I would get the Viper, you cant beat their warranty. My buddy lost my turret caps last year sighting it in for me. I sent them an email to purchase replacements and they sent me new caps for free. They were at my house within 3 days.

Vortex Crossfire
got one of these on a 22-250. You get a lot of quality in Vortex for a chinese made scope at that price point.

Midway has the Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x 50mm v-plex for $150. Good deal here.

Natchez is having a big sale on Nikons right now. Grab a monarch 3 with your preferred reticle and call it a day. I’d go 2.5-10 at those distances.

Dvor.com also having scope sales. Although some of their "sale" prices are close to what you already see on amazon or ebay.

I picked up a leupold vx2 3x9 40 mm for $125 used on Facebook. Put it on my sons rifle. If anything ever happens to it, just send it back to leupold. They will fix it or send you another.
Leupold and vortex customer service is unbeatable.
