I love these people. As if roads wouldn't exist except through the power of the gov't? I'm always amazed at the people that truly believe this. You know that it was Dwight Eisenhower that instituted the federal DOT in the 50's right? American made it almost 200 years without it.

You do know that the Federal Government funded road projects decades before Eisenhower instituted the Interstate system right? His wasn’t the first.

Which you shouldn’t have to have either. Since we’ve grown up with all of these restrictions in place we’re blinded to their absurdity.

Have you ever had a car totaled by someone with no insurance, no valid license, and no money?

I have, and let me tell you- "it ain't fun".

This "everyone belongs on the road" idea of yours is not well thought out.

You're a reason nobody takes seriously the Libertarian Party. Good job!

False. Every person is born with the right to do whatever they want. These rights are then stripped from you by your government who then allows you to use your rights that they took in the first place within their guidelines.

It's really odd how much credence we give to such an obviously corrupt power structure.

I'd love to know how we allowed our rights to be licensed back to us by the state (fishing, driving, hunting, etc, etc, etc). It's just a freaking tax.

For all of those claiming that a drivers license somehow screens out the clowns, let me ask you this: have you been re-certified to drive since you originally got your license? I haven't. I took the driver's test one time at age 16 and haven't had a subsequent test in 29 years. How is that screening anyone?

I'd argue the requirements for obtaining a license need to be toughened.

no shite

Problem is history has already taken place and here we are. So what's your solution? People going to build a separate road way for non licensed drivers?

This particular battle was lost by those before us.

Nothing is stopping you from driving your own vehicle on your own property, it just becomes an issue when you travel on public roads.

Driving is a privilege, not a right.

you shouldn't need a license from the government to do...anything. Licenses and permits should be unconstitutional again, as they were for the first half of our nation's history.

So glad I dissociated myself from that pie in the sky fantasy world.

Can't believe I actually voted for Gary Johnson once.

What an embarrassing stage in my life.

I'm a libertarian and have no problem with it. You're out there and lives are at risk.

What has my blood boiling is having to jump through hoops to get the government's permission to cut someone's hair.

Having to have a license to do hair is absolutely ridiculous.

You don't. You only need it is you get caught driving on government roads. You can drive all you wish on every road you make.

They're also known as patriots. Criminals seems more apt to those who use their power to take from others without any recompense. You know...politicians and government.
