meh
When he left, almost all (if not all) of the draft sites had him as a 2nd rounder (which would be just as bad as not being drafted) or undrafted.
Sure, by showing up out of shape, he hurt his chances of improving his stock. But, financially, it's hard to make an argument that he wouldn't have been better off had he stayed, got in better shape, and improved his draft stock at least until he was a first rounder.
Short version...pointing to his mistakes after declaring doesn't say anything about his original decision itself. That decision stands on its own and it was a bad one.

Ok so here is what I gathered from this thread:
1. Naz stunk last year
2. We will never hear his name again
3. I started drinking
While I enjoy the intelligent engagement that most of you provide, the ones who think that any of the above are true are the real reason I keep this take train rolling. I love you all. Keep being you.

So he made two bad decisions because he could have come back even after the combine. He would have been better next year at the combine with what he learned this year.

he had already hired agent. I will agree that hiring an agent in April was not so smart.

Not a single person has a clue what the scouts told Naz
They may have said "You might not get drafted. But we dont need to see your game in college anymore. Its not going to help your stock. It would be better for you to come out now and improve in our system"

Exactly. All I'm saying is that it was not a single bad decision. It was multiple. He could have left his options open even right up until the end.

what I found weird about his time at LSU was when he was named a Five Star recruit it was a foregone conclusion he was a one and done. Almost like he never considered he may not be ready or wasnt good enough. Sort of like a pride thing, not a decision based in reality.
I dont know what his home life is, or his family financial situation but I do know at this point in his life right now he should have gone back to LSU after the combine. He wasnt in shape, he isnt athletic enough, nor strong enough, nor skilled enough to make it. Maybe this draft snub will be a wake up call and he will get after it this summer.

Rantism that needs to die #489: calling out “stupidity” and providing no reason.
FYI, it makes you look stupid.

you don't have to roll the dice like football- you can get evaluated and get feedback. We saw multiple players declare, then back out.
Naz was not drafted. He did not have a freak injury, he didn't have a sudden legal issue like La'el Collins. He DOES have the actual physical stature that many others lack, he DID show he has potential shooting from outside, and he had 3 years of eligibility remaining at a suddenly prominent, rising program.
If his eval showed that he was a marginal prospect that a poor workout would knock completely out of the draft, then he should have considered at least leaving the door open to return and improve his stock.
Bad decision not to.
And most definitely, he should have worked his arse off getting ready for that combine.
Another bad decision.

Naz was never staying 2 years. He was going right out of high school if he could. Didnt matter what he did this season, he was 100% gone.

He signed a two way deal. Those are worth 6 figures, because it promises a certain number of games on a NBA roster.

Only if you get called up by the team. They have no obligation to put him on the NBA roster or any amount of NBA games.

Naz left LSU in great shape with plenty of skills that the NBA likes in bigs these days. Sure he had things to work on, but so does every player that was drafted last night. He did not make a bad decision to leave. What he did do was not prepare himself properly after the decision was bad. Fault him for not working hard to get himself into the draft like Tremont did. Most of you that think he should have stayed are just feeling that way for selfish reasons.

Dude never made a single inside move, or really any 1 on 1 move in his entire college career. Anyone that thought this guy might get drafted is an idiot.
His shot was average at best for his size.
People think because he was big and tall that's enough... IT'S NOT.
It was a completely idiotic move for him to make.

He could have stayed on worked on all things needed and MATURED as a young man.
Now you think in some D league capacity, hes gonna go out and do thise things voluntarily? And you say this after knowing he absolutely was aware he needed to do this to make the draft, and didnt.
It wasnt a good decision
TRUTH. 50/50 he never sees the NBA court.. EVER.

With just two rounds in the draft how can anyone who watched Naz Reid play ball this past season think he could possibly be one of those players drafted? The guy was absolutely not ready.
