Should FB posts made when off duty be held against officers when they come to work?

Of course. Why wouldn’t it?

apparently some on the OT believe you can say or post whatever you want on the internet and your employer shouldn't be allowed to fire you

My problem with this whole situation is this: the posts were public for anybody to see, so this research group comes in and flags a bunch of them.

Are they going to make it public which posts where flagged and, more importantly, their criteria for flagging them? Because I'll bet sure as hell a lot of this shite is not black and white.

For example, did someone bash illegal immigration and some SJW in this research group flagged it as just bashing immigration. There's a clear difference that any rational person can see.

I hope for situations like this these officers form a coalition and sue this research group into oblivion.

I would love to see some examples of each.

What exactly are they going to sue for when this is publically available information?

Uumm, so I do design work for most pipeline companies, both crude and gas. If I were to get on FB (and as just an example) constantly post about how dirty the industry is then I think the company I work for has the right to find another role for me or fire me because its clear there is a conflict of interest and bias. How can I properly do my job if I do not respect and am biased toward the people (being the oil and gas companies) Im doing work for.

Cops are working for every person in their beat. So if the PD feels like a certain cop cannot work for each person without bias then there is a problem.

If Philly is stupid enough to fire their arse, Murphy Paul needs to give them a call with an invitation to move to Louisiana. IDGAF what they post.

If you're a shite head off duty, it's pretty reasonable to believe you're a shite head on the job.

Is it fireable? Well that depends what was said, but it's worth a look by management nonetheless.
