A few wheat harvest photos

We had a really wet fall last year and it delayed the wheat crop in our area quite a bit. We finished up our harvest a few days ago and the wheat was actually better than I thought it would be. A few spots had a little more rye grass than I would have liked and it dragged our yields down but I think it will still average in the mid 70’s.

The grain carts today have twice the capacity that the rice trucks had back in the day. (80’s)

Good stuff, 2 high for cotton. How much land and what crops do you farm?

Very nice! We haven’t grown it in years down this way. Yields were just too volatile.
I’m taking a “wait and see” approach on hemp. There are too many questions unanswered for me to jump into it atm.

Do you have to spray the wheat to kill it?

Who hauls your grain? My buddy has a big grain hauling operation over in Rogersville.

Pretty nice yield. Started cutting some of our wheat yesterday and it was mid/ low 60s. Pretty decent for around here especially since that wheat was grazed in the winter.

How many acres per can of Copenhagen do you get running that machine for a couple days in a row?

I love these posts also. There were a bunch of rice farmers in my mom's (long departed) family in the early to mid 20th century and when I think about them, I have respect for them. But all their progeny closest to my mom got out of the business or their kids moved on to something else. But I always look at a truck load of harvested grain in awe as the cumulative total of those will be your years income. This at times seems tenuous. You have my admiration. Kudos!
