Again, i've yet to see anyone really complaining about the score.
He's trying to build that strawman. He's not doing a good job.

As a Tiger fan that sat through my share of arse whuppings by Steve Spurrier's teams...it's humiliating to be on the losing end of a score like that, to say the least. So, like most Tiger fans - we'd call Ole Ball Coach every name in the book. And then he came out with the infamous quote - "If I hang half a hundred on ya, it sounds like your problem, not mine." Then I realized he was a hopelessly arrogant bastard...and logically correct.

I watched some of the college softball and it's hilarious how when they get, say, a ground out, the whole team gathers together and cheers
There's a reason women's sports never gained any traction. It's just not that interesting.

I guess celebrations don’t bother me, win or lose. It didn’t bother me, unlike many other Buckeye fans, when Baker planted the flag at midfield in the Shoe. And I didn’t pretend, like other Cleveland fans, that the Decision TV Special was the reason to get upset, rather than losing one of the greatest basketball players of all time. I think it’s stupid when people get upset over things like bat flips after a home run in baseball.
It may not bother you, but that doesn't make the act any less classless or in poor taste.
It is a pretty well understood level of sportsmanship that when you are blowing out a team, you do not gloat or overly celebrate if you keep scoring. That is universal across all sports.

I'm going to complain about WTF are we doing to give up 13 goals.
Sure. But other soccer people will complain.
That's normal.

Please go and watch the rest of the celebrations first.

Your normal shtick of not actually having any reference to what you are trying to debate is old.

Is Julie Foudy a snowflake who hates Americans?
Snowflake, yes. Hates Americans? Probably not as much as others.

The nature of the late game celebrations, were poor sportsmanship plain and simple. Saying otherwise is just folly.
This isn't U-8 soccer, it's the World Cup. I wish they would have scored 20 and done line dances after each goal.
Soccer has always been about over-the-top theatrical celebrations.

Stop. I get it, you are trying to rile up random internet folk. It's rather sad actually.
I seriously doubt anyone here posting is "upset" over the soccer players. This isn't weighing on people's minds, and once many leave this thread, they aren't talking about it. So people aren't "snowflaky". They are just acknowledging the obvious. US Women's soccer team was acting rather classless with their celebrations. You know this. You don't even disagree with it. You are just here to flame others. And you're faux support of their antics is either more trolling, or just you virtue signaling your undying support for a group that made headlines by disrespecting the Orange Man.

No one cares about the score. Give up on the talking point.

Which is why most people in America hate soccer.

each goal counts and you can only sub 3 people. i guess they could have stopped playing and done yoga.

Do you want me to link the rest of them? Again, you're making an opinion on something you have absolutely no knowledge on.
If you aren't personally bothered by any celebrations, no matter what, that's fine but you are in the minority. There is an understood level of sportsmanship across all sports. The women's team took things too far with their celebrations. It was unnecessary and unneeded. Former players across the world are agreeing.

I wonder if those 14 y/o Dallas boys, excessively celebrated when they crushed the US National Women's team? I hope they did.

When you are blowing someone out? Absolutely not. You're just being obtuse at this point.

Nobody is arguing the score. Keep up.

i hope so too. I thought this was about #Winning everyday. What's wrong with celebrating #Winning and scoring points? Our president does it 5-10 times a day on Twitter

The only truly excessive celebration I saw was Rapinoe's and that's because she's an idiot. 2 of the women scored their 1st ever goals in the World Cup and were congratulated by teamamtes. So what? The other possible excessive one was Alex Morgan when she scored her 5th and celebrated with her team for a world cup tying record. Getting a record that may never be surpassed is probably a cause for celebration. It is in ever other sport.

quote:In what universe has that EVER been the standard in sport?
All I’m saying is that if a celebration wouldn’t have been criticized if it was goal 1, then criticizing that same celebration at goal 13, is more complaining than criticizing.
quote:
But as has been pointed out, since the differential matters moving forward, then this isn’t the same as celebrating a touchdown up 70-0.
One can run up the score because it's necessary and still handle all else the same as if you beat Sam Houston 70-0
