It always humors me when my family in Lafayette bitches about “Baton Rouge traffic.” When I tell them that it takes me twice as long to get anywhere in Lafayette as it does the same distance in Baton Rouge, they cite to some time they got stuck in three hours of traffic on the new bridge. I then have to explain to them that their problem doesn’t exist for people who actually live in the city, and my daily driving isn’t impacted by how long it takes for them to get over the bridge to get to the Mall

Traffic in Houston is worse. Took me 70 minutes to drive 22 miles from The Houston Galleria to Rankin Road in Humble.

Exactly. I live near campus and can get to anywhere in BR in less than 10 minutes. That’s why I really like bee rye’s post about the traffic at Vets being “not really Nola”

I feel this sentiment for people with kids. I can understand older people with the kids out the house but why anyone would voluntarily throw money out the window to send your kids to a private school is dumb as frick

They suffer from the Steve Jobs reality distortion field syndrome.

They say to themselves that BR is great over and over again. They start to believe their own bullshite.
This also applies to people that think NO is great.
Same people that say Louisiana is great. They refuse to acknowledge that there are any other good places to live.

What defines 'great?' I understand the economy is comparatively lacking, political system fubar'd any chance for the economy growing in the near term, weather hot as shite, public school system sucks and traffics a bitch. But having deep roots in an area with lots of family and friends and enjoyable activities to do is more valuable to some people than living away from everyone you know to make some more money.

Family. Do you love your family? Is there something indispensable about family relationships? Do you have awesome parents/ siblings / cousins etc that improve your life immeasurably? If the answer is yes, than Baton Rouge works fine.

That said , I have advised all my children to leave and told them if the case above applies and they need us , that we will move to them. I enjoyed living abroad and in better states , but raising a family in Baton Rouge has been awesome. It worked out great for me.

Essentially get all the crappy aspects of Nola, minus the food and fun things to do.

Unless you go to LSU or work at LSU, I see no reason a grown adult should live in Baton Rouge

Why have you not moved already? It seems like you start this type of thread every other week.

Why would you live in the Galleria area if you worked up at Rankin Road? That’s the equivalent to living in the Garden District and working in Gonzales. Sounds like your own fault chief.

also, BR doesn’t have a Buccees, a Whataburger, or a Specs in 2019. I’m out.

No we do not have 500,000 sq ft gas stations

Yes we have Whataburgers. It is funny that TX people get so excited ab a shitty fast food chain that has good ketchup

We can buy alcohol around the clock from gas stations, no some state run liquor store that is closed on sundays and every night by 8pm (lol what a joke)

Houston sucks arse, there is nothing special or unique about it
