No coaching took place. The only decisions made were to put Peterson in (good move), put V in (lost you the game), put Fontenot in (didn’t help), let Hess start the 9th and use up more pitches (made no sense).
There were no offensive calls, per usual. We just hit and hope that we string together enough. Although, our poor baserunning really kept them in the game.
Down by 1 in the 8th and leadoff gets on and you do nothing to advance him to 2nd with Beloso up...he hits into a double play...that was a bad decision.

Vietmeier should have never been in the game to face the tying run who was one of their better sluggers. He shouldnt have been in the game to begin with, but certainly not in that spot

Correct. He just happened to be the warmest guy from throwing the inning before. Not that it would have gone much better, but you have to have Fontenot ready to go to start that inning. Peterson was clearly not as sharp.

Can you name some bad decisions they made in this game?
Ok, our catcher missed second and that cost us a run other than that what bad base running did we do?

Watson getting thrown out between 2nd and 3rd was bad.
That ball is hit right in the lane in center, which means it will take far less time to scoop it and throw it. Bad read by Watson assuming it was going to go all the way through. I doubt that was a coach decision though.

It’s the way baseball is. It’s a game of %’s . Pawl went away from that on more than one occasion and it may have cost him. Oh well.

Then Hess came in with the game tied and blew it. Sure, in retrospect, you could try something else, but coaches don’t have the benefit of hindsight.

The difference between good coaches and great coaches and good teams and great teams in any sport is attention to detail.
IMO, Maneiri falls short in attention to detail. Is he a good coach? Yes. But not great especially in game coaching. Much of his success is the result of the LSU brand attracting talented players. Fact.

Trent Vietmeier is giving up .396 vs lefties. PM Brings him in with one out to face
Mike Salvatore .366 7HR .540 slg%
Followed by these 3 left handers!

Smith and Dups are the only truly great hitters on LSU's team.
It really hurts that they both missed an opportunity in the 9th to at least tie the game.

Totally disagree with thread. This was 100% on the players. Not touching base as you run past it. Explain how that is on the coaches. Give up 10 walks. Pretty sure the pitchers know how to throw strikes. No...this was on the players.

Is there an NCAA baseball lottery that assigns players to the teams?
Or, is there someone that LSU pays millions to sign good players and make sure play fundamentally sound baseball?

We recruit.....LSU just has had such good results in recruiting, it hurts us when the leave so early or never show up on campus!

If you can't throw a changeup right over the shitter for a strike after throwing nothing but fastballs, you don't belong in the SEC.
