Is it still a great place to eat? I only heard about it on TV and magazines. Never eaten there. Planning on going for our anniversary

It's very good. It's a perfect place for an anniversary dinner. When you make the reservations tell them what you are celebrating.

They are great with stuff like birthdays and anniversaries
Also a GOAT lunch place.
3 course lunch for $25 with 25 cent martinis.

I love it and have been going for 40 years and have done the chefs table a couple times although not recently. Emeril and then Jamie Shannon but I don’t do tasting menus anymore.
Last time I was there was Saturday before Halloween and it was a great fall evening and people were all over town in costumes. Had some great fish, oyster appetizers and we even had the bananas foster which we haven’t had in many years. A nice dinner with my wife.
It doesn’t get the love here but I’ve always enjoyed it and never had a bad meal that I recall and certainly have never had bad service. I might be a little dated for some but my family enjoys it.
One thing they do have is an incredibly good and affordable wine list. A great selection of bottles under $60 as well as half bottles and large selection by the glass.
Go and enjoy. Get some oysters and some champagne or sparkling to start and work from there. Take your time they won’t rush you.

25 cent martinis.
A contributing factor as to why I don’t drink them anymore.

Yes. Ask for a table against the windows in the garden room. And make sure to tell them it's your anniversary. Ti or Lally will come over and say hi/congrats.

It's my favorite restaurant, anywhere... that said, my last visit there was somewhat disappointing.

Thank you for the suggestions

Chefs table in the kitchen is the way to go, especially for an anniversary or birthday. They only seat 4 so bring a couple that you really like to join you.
It’s definitely worth it and a once in a lifetime experience
Eta: when you have a big group reserve the wine cellar. We did if for my 40th. I believe you can have up to 14

Been several times and always had a good experience. Service par excellence.

Perfect for anniversary. Be sure to tell them about the special occasion. Their seasonal dessert is usually better than the bread pudding, in my opinion. Also turtle soup is a must.

My second favorite restaurant in town next to Galatoire's.

We went in April for my dad's 80th. He is a regular there so they paid a lot of attention to the table. But as far as the quality of food goes I think it is just ok, the service and at atmosphere is fantastic

It’s one of the few places on the planet worth the hype.

I agree, although some people think it's the best dessert in the city

I’ve always wanted to do the chefs table

Not sure if they still do it, but their Sunday Jazz Brunch is a great way to spend a late Sunday morning/early afternoon.
