What name does your kids call your parents?

I’m about to be a new father. We were talking to my wife’s parents about the upcoming addition when my wife asks her mother “what do you want the baby to call you?” Some of the names suggested were Zozo, Lulu, Lele, and a variety of other dumb as shite names. She made it clear she didn’t want to be called grandma. When she asked her dad he said either Grand Daddy or Big Daddy (the later of which I told my wife wasn’t happening) and no way would he go by pawpaw/grandpa. On my side of the family it was always grandpa/pawpaw and mawmaw/grandma. When did it become popular to buck tradition and make up your own name?

Dad - paw paw
Mom - Nana
My parents are divorced so that's why they don't go together I suppose.
My mom hated the idea of being called maw maw at 52 or so when my daughter was born.

There are bound to be some changes. Your kids will butcher a pronunciation then it will stick
Nana and pap(was supposed to be papa)
Grandma and pop pop(was supposed to be just grandpa)
Nana and pap(was supposed to be papa)
Grandma and pop pop(was supposed to be just grandpa)

Grandpa and Papa. My parents are both men and that way they can distinguish.

She made it clear she didn’t want to be called grandma.
What often happens is the grandparent choose one name but the child mispronounces it and the mispronunciation sticks.

That’s what her mom basically said. Blows my mind. She acted as if being called a grandma was a bad thing. Also said that since my wife called hers grandpa and grandma that she couldn’t go by those names.

I find it odd too. My dad didn't give a shite but my mom did. She's a little on the pretentious side if I'm being honest.
