The point he’s making is things like speed limits, pharmaceutical side effects, Boeing’s airplane design, etc. etc. Governments and major corporations, insurance companies for example, put an economic value on human lives all the time. Speed limits are the classic example. Every 5 mph we increase speed limits, tens of thousands more people will die. Yet we do it.

I mean for Christ sakes most of you in here are against universal healthcare. You think people with cancer and life threatening illnesses are any less worthy of life than fetuses? And letting them die for lack of healthcare is any less of “murder”? You just don’t wanna pay for their very expensive treatment with high taxes.

Which is fine, I don’t either. But the point is everyone posting in this thread puts a pecuniary value on innocent human life all the fricking time, and are generally fine doing so, except when it comes to abortion.

We have one of the highest cancer survival rates in the world? Just because healthcare is universal doesn't mean it will be good. How often is an industry without competition or profit accompanied by good customer service?

It's really strange.

Fetus in a womb? Government must protect at all costs

Person who has potentially lethal disease through no fault of their own and can't afford treatment? Tough luck for them I'm not paying for it. The "right to life" seems to end as soon as you take your first breath for many of these people.

I've seen birds, reptiles, and some fish risk their lives protecting their eggs. Do you think that makes them better mothers than women who get abortions?

Why does your assumption about me being against universal healthcare jump to no treatment options at all?

Because I’m not for the end of Medicaid. Or the end of indigent care provided by our private, mainly Catholic, hospital systems.

What happens when it's unprofitable to treat a certain person? What if their insurance doesn't cover said treatment and they cannot afford it out of pocket?

Got to love the religious fanatics who judge others....

Ah, the old don't judge others argument. No, I sure will judge wether anyone should have the right to kill an unborn human being. Only two sides, life or death.

When I was younger I had an abortion. It was the smartest decision I could’ve made, not only for myself & my boyfriend at the time, but also for this unborn fetus.

Closing her legs would have been smarter, easier and cheaper.

One is active. The other is passive.

You get an email from a stranger. He says he kidnapped a girl and he's going to kill her if you don't convert all of your money to bitcoin and send it to him. You don't send the money. He kills the girl.

Did you murder the girl?

I'd put another one in her and pay for the abortion afterwards
