My asian neighbor had his sister come to the US to deliver a baby (for Free)

I was talking to my neighbor who is from the Mun (Spell) culture of Thailand. He had his sister come to the US few weeks ago to deliver a baby for the US citizenship.
My wife is also expecting in few months, so I asked him how much did it cost (trying to see how much my out of pocket would be). He said they paid zero dollar. He brought his sister in to the state hospital (Hennepin county in MPLS), told them she didn't have insurance. They said ok, you'll need to meet with the financial counselor. She did just that, was granted a waiver, and didn't pay a penny.
This got me thinking! why do I have to have insurance? I can do the same exact thing and not pay a dime. Why do I have to subsidize for the bums and the cheaters?
It's infuriating!

ETA: but shows like greys anatomy are showing the extreme of this where an illegal from SAmerica donated blood/an organ to save their family and they were deported by gunpoint for just going on the medical registry.

This is one of the primary arguments on immigration...they know they get the free child birth and then welfare after being granted a stay in the best country in the world, so who wouldn't do it? I don't blame any immigrant for coming to get some free shite.
Who i blame are the politicians that are using it as a political weapon to breed out the taxpaying citizens=

I just asked if I could get any discount for paying my bill in full following an emergency orthopedic surgery for my daughter and they gave me a resounding No. Go figure.

See but she’s a Thai lady so that’s different . We really should be encouraging more Thai women to come here. Maybe we should consider a Thai lady ONLY immigration policy.

This mentality is ruining our country. Why are you so worried about someone else? Did that birth literally change your life in ANY BIT?

Do you have problems with tax evaders and people that toe tap the tax code to avoid paying their proper share of taxers? okay with businesses repeatedly laying and claiming all business expenses as losses to avoid paying taxes...when it might just be a flat out lie?

Those poor people can scam for those pennies all they want --- ours (At least mine) life will still be better than the shitty health care they are receiving. Why am i going to focus my anger towards that? thats a waste of time.

Uh.... yeah. That's why we have IRS audits.
Even if found fraudulently entering the country for the sole purpose of giving birth(extremely rare, and they usually go after the providers), the baby is still a US citizen and everything that comes with it.

Is this a joke?
You really don't see all the negatives associated with birthright citizenship, such as increased burden on existing taxpayers, chain migration and the national security risks associated with it...
It's just one step above illegal immigration. We aren't asking for these people because they have specialized skills needed for the workforce. We are literally allowing parents to live here because their child is a US citizen who popped out on US soil.

Maybe true, maybe not true. Regardless, they can't turn her away while she is in labor, and even if they pursue collection actions since she isn't a U.S. Citizen what SSN or anything else would they use? No way to get their money back, and they know that, so maybe the waiver is true as "attempting" to collect is fruitless and would cost them even more.
