WWE just has too many resources and will certainly buy AWE out (which is probably what AWE wants) before they ever make a dent.

That has little to do with what I said. WWE is a public company and made $100M in net income last year.

It doesn't matter how much money the competition has if they're trying to startup from nothing and compete with WWE which is an extremely entrenched company that basically holds a monopoly on wrestling. Look at how well funded WCW was with Ted Turner and TNA with Dixie Carter.

It will take decades for any wrestling organization to become a legit threat to WWE, both fan base wise but more importantly in terms of profitability. And WWE won't even let it get that far happen because they will use their connections within the business to damper any legit competition.

Don't discount how many years and billions of dollars it took WWE to become what it is today.

Remember on pg 1 when you asked who AEW had that people heard of outside of their bubble have heard of? That same argument works for the two names you mentioned here. Becky's awesome and popular in WWE, but it's not like she's some household name.

And also, why are some of y'all hating on this? Competition is great for everyone, especially the wrestlers themselves.

WWE is beyond stale, I canceled my subscription months ago. They need something to motivate them, you should be begging for this to work.

Nobody has fricking heard of The Young Bucks or Kenny Omega outside of hardcore wrestling fans yet the AEW marks and anti-WWE stooges act like they are huge names and huge draws
This is true. Someone in a previous thread said something to the effect that them and Jericho were the most well-known names in the company, as if they were anywhere close to Jericho in name-recognition.

Shut the hell up, dude. You think you have a pulse on wrestling? The fact that you are rooting for a promotion to fail just because you’re annoyed with their fan base is pretty pathetic. AEW doing good is best for the business of Wrestling. Stop being a douche about it.

exactly... I'm shocked to see some of the MNRT regulars who constantly talk about how WWE's gotten stale are hating on the new kid in town

obviously AEW isn't anywhere near WWE's level right now b/c it's a true start-up... hopefully it can survive and grow

I obviously want AEW to be successful b/c I am 1 who believes competition is better for the consumer... and if AEW can become a true competitor to WWE (which it isn't right now... nor will it be for a few years) then we, the consumers of the pro wrestling product, will be the ones who will benefit

I hope some of the wrestling fans shitting on AEW right now will at least give it a reasonable chance once it hits TNT's airwaves

It absolutely matters. TNA is still a thing, and WCW held on for a decade hemorrhaging money because of how much Turner put into it.

Point being, I don’t think AEW is just looking to get bought out. And they have the resources to stick around for a while. Will they threaten WWE or directly challenge them, I don’t know. But competition is good, and WWE is certainly concerned.

Don’t forget, that big Fox deal can be cancelled if they don’t hit their ratings numbers. Which they are currently no where near, btw.

They bitch about how WWE doesn't offer health insurance to their wrestlers and excuse AEW for doing the same

For what it's worth I've heard AEW does offer insurance to their guys. I don't know how valid that is though

Yet its still the highest rated show in the 18-49 demographic on cable and sales to live events and PPVs are just fine. Everything is down in cable. AEW isn't all of a sudden going to reverse that trend

I really don't get why you are so angry about AEW. legit competition means a better product overall for both. Room for 2 legit companies

People that act like AEW will save wrestling and people that have their heads in the sand over how bad WWE is are one in the same. Both thriving is what would be best for business

I wonder why they didn't buy and elevate one of the existing mid-level promotions.

Good luck to them. I think they should’ve given Billy Corgan money for the NWA name and belts. Those three letters mean a lot more to casual fans than AEW.

Omega is talented, but not the household name that most hardcore fans think he is. The young bucks are entertaining in spurts, but I can’t take them seriously. Adam “Hangman” Page will be a breakout star.

I know Marty Scurill fought Nick Aldis for the NWA Championship at the Crockett cup recently (great match BTW). Will the Villian sign with AEW?

I would book an NWA invasion angle into AEW after the first few weeks. Have Jim Cornette and Billy Corgan come out and proclaim that TNT is the NWA’s territory or something like that.

Agreed 100%. They also have the refined version of Neville that he was just beginning to tap into when he left WWE.
