The Bucks have a merchandising empire that includes half a million tshirts sold through Hot Topic. BTE gets a few hundred thousand views every week on youtube. They sold out All In and Double or Nothing in minutes, plus the G1 Supercard at MSG before AEW was announced. To say no one has heard of them is laughable.

So... a 40-something year old Y2J and a bunch of mid-carders / dark match stars?

I wonder why they didn't buy and elevate one of the existing mid-level promotions.

Never stopped loving WCW, even almost 2 decades after it shut down.

Their first show, All In, had 11,263 in attendance

I attended a Smackdown Live event in July last year in Evansville Indiana that drew a bigger crowd than that

Random WWE segment uploads from RAW/Smackdown get multiple million views within 24-48 hours of being uploaded

It's one thing to sell out occassional PPVs attached to big fan conventions in huge markets like NYC or Chicago or great tourist destinations on a holiday weekend like Las Vegas. Its another thing to do it every month and draw a TV audience every week and sell live audience/house show tickets every week in various territories

I bet they will never release the buyrate because it's going to be abysmal....it's been years since people have had to pay 50 bucks to watch a wrasslin PPV.

WCW was good for what it was.....a small territory that went national, lost money, had a cup of coffee with the big time, and went out of business.

Have you been to /r/squaredcircle? It's extremely left leaning

But I agree, the average wrestling fan is not a social justice liberal, which is why I do not think it is a smart play on AEW's part

Ford Center holds 11,000. You are saying the show had a SRO sellout?

Edit: saw it was tv taping

Live attendance last year averaged 5k

Even most WWE fans can admit that the writing has been atrocious for the most part over the last several years. They (Vince) doesn’t allow talent to get over naturally like they did back in the glory days (and if they do get over with the fans they are punished for it by being held back). Vince picks his favorites and that’s it.

Thankfully WWE has started to scale back on the amount of women’s matches recently at least. No one wants to watch a 50/50 men and women’s wrestling show. They want to see good looking women regardless of how much that pisses the SJW’s and feminist off.

It's not unheard of in places like Evansville IN......places that don't get live TV shows fairly infrequently and never get a PPV

ETA Also depends on who's advertised obviously.

To be fair, Becky Lynch has been the best thing in WWE for a while

Totally agree with everything else though

What WWE needs to do is go back to a more Japanese style of booking .....I say that for 2 reasons: A) it is entertaining and B) they have the perfect roster for it (moreso than any time in thier history).

I think it would work and I suspect HHH would give it a try if not for Vince.....I just hope WWE can limp along until Vince has to bow out but who knows how long that old bastard will hang around.

To each their own, but at the end of the day she’s not selling tickets and no one outside of WWE fans knows who she is

The all women’s PPV last year didn’t even sell half the arena. They had to dim the lights to hide the empty seats.

Yeah and if Asuka and Sane were used properly they would be right up there with Lynch and Flair. Also don't forget Rousey.....I'm sure ratings would have been tanking earlier if not for her.

Just because WWE has jerked around the booking of Bayley, Sasha, Asuka, etc....the women's division is still very hot.
