I fully expect a 2012 to 2013 type jump for Burrow and the offense the way LSU/Mett were able to achieve. Ironically 2012 and 2018 were both 5.3 YPP. If we see a jump to 6.4 and get better red zone efficiency this team will be very hard to beat. I also think Aranda will have his best D since becoming our DC.

I know those are bold predictions, but that's how good I feel about this team. The one unknown is how much improvement our OL makes. If they don't at least perform above average we will be a good, not great team.

I don’t think that prediction is too bold. Burrow had a better first year starting than Mett did. His second should be a nice step up given that he arrived on campus in June last year and had only Jefferson to work with all summer. Add in the huge upgrade at RB and a more experienced OL, this team should do very well.

“ definitely took defense and special teams to beat UGA”

Around 200 yards rushing in the second half probably helped in our 42 to 10 win.

Are you really going to make an argument for Miles’ offenses?

30 passing yards against UGA. But muh efficiency.

The efficiency was achieved when Jarret Lee was our quarterback prior to Bama. That 30 yards was when Miles played Jefferson and not Lee. It was idiotic of Miles to refuse to play Lee even when the offense could not move the ball at all.

Are you going to make the argument that our rush game was not a significant factor in the second half against Georgia?

That offense you were talking about was first or second in the SEC in rushing. I’ll take that any day of the week. Our passing game was another story and not a very pretty one but then it hasn’t been any more pretty in the last few years.

I think we all hope that will change this season.

Coach Stud called some really good games that year.

The game at West Virginia in Morgantown he dialed up some great plays and Lee executed them to perfection

Actually they support themselves, at least '07, '13, '11, and '06 do, if you bother to look at the record book (Team Records/Offense/TDs Rushing and Passing).

I guess I'll have to repost

Being Dinosaurian and all that, it should be easy to top just one of the 4 best scoring offenses in LSU history(per LSU Media Guide)?
Have a great day.

Impossible. According to tRant he was just a bad arse tater salad maker who embarrassingly ate his way out of a job.

The worst play in football was extremely successful for us, especially with Stephen Ridley, Spencer Ware, and Jeremy Hill who busted multiple 50+ yard runs with it.

I think we averaged over 4 yards a play with the worst play in college football

Are the records you’re referencing per game or season totals?

We actually only had two real drives in the entire game. Most yardage came in fluff time.

So, I guess you don’t think 200 yards of rush offense in the 2nd half aided the LSU cause. Got you

It hurt us a month later when our coaches refused to change the game plan ... maybe thinking we would do what we did against UGA

TDs rushing and passing would be total of course.
Don't despair he also holds 3/5 top spots in ppg also iirc.

The official LSU record book is a free download and with it you can verify or denounce all sorts of Rant jibberish.

Of course

And 30 yards passing hurt the cause
Less than 300 total yards isn't impressive.

Yeh I found it interesting that 2016 offense was 2nd all time in ypp...a stat Ricky prefers over ypg but that offense was led by SE and wouldn’t go well with the narrative

It’s amazing to see how much this offense has changed over the past decade. We legitimately went I-form on every 1st and 2nd down (and short 3rd downs too). Now, we’re working majority from the shotgun with at least 3 wide. I think part of our problem in trying to turn to spread is that Miles recruited players that fit his style of ground and pound, so our offensive linemen are all big guys that can move bodies around which is great for the running game, but awful for pass protection when there are edge rushers now that run sub 4.6.

We literally didn't. They used pulling gaurds a lot, those guys had to move. And we lined up out of the shotgun more than out of the I when Harris was the QB

Honey Badger’s two long punt returns saved our arse that game. We had zero going on offense the first half.
