Was watching a panel at the SALT conference on the marijuana industry and one of the speakers has been involved in the legislation, and he claimed that he talked to Colorado senator Cory Gardner a few days ago and he said it would be done this year and that Trump and Mitch have in the past few weeks signed off on it:

For those unaware Basically this bill makes it so that we don’t criminalize marijuana federally in states that have legalized it, and opens up the banking industry for those related businesses.

Bought pot farm stock 6 months ago. In anticipation of Trump legalizing it on a federal level before the next election!

Thank God. It's about time. I dont even use MJ, but I think its abhorrent how we ban a drug over what is essentially misguided moral reasons.

Marijuana would literally swing votes to any GOP person running on it. Trump has shown he has such strong support amongst the whole GOP base that even the evangelical that him supporting this wouldn’t deter them in casting votes for him.

I hope this article or rumor is true. Gardner might just might have a chance if true.

having no 'sanctuary' for illegals ought to be a condition of being able to opt out

I agree this would help Trump with the millennials but I also think letting the states choose whether to legalize or not is the right way to go. I know some folks disagree but legalizing marijuana is not the worst thing in the world, we certainly have bigger fish to fry than to be worrying too much about people getting high.

Seems a roundabout way to just decriminalize it federally.

I am not a fan of legalization for marijuana personally. But I 100% believe that it should be a state issue and not federal.

You know that whole states rights thing.

Trump makes this happen and that just another huge win for him.

People against understand there are lots of other things, but also realize that "just some people getting high" isnt a throw away issue. We know that people get hooked long term, and start at a younger age forms the brain differently. Also, denver just proved it wont stop now that they legalized shrooms. This board bashes Seattle/Portland for where it has gotten, but supports legalization of weed. The hypocrisy, and "head in sand" to clear examples of where it heads is baffling.

This is a genie that the future wont try to put back in the bottle since the past will be forgotten.

One thing all can agree when talking about this topic is that it proves that anti-lobbyist dont exist.

I'm not either, and I'm a pothead.

Bashes them for sanctuary cities, high taxes, and rampant welfare... of course. The world isn't black or white.

I can't wait until MJ is legal all over the country. You'll see a lot less people resorting to opioids and other more harmful drugs.

I always had a major feeling marijuana was going to be a crucial deal with this election, along with Chinese relations. If Trump gets those two bases covered before the Dems can, he'll have a 'yuge' boost. Of course the Dems have no unique policy perspective, just a bunch of hot air bad Orange man rhetoric so I'm not surprised.

It is hilarious to me how getting high is that important to people.
