What trouble? Assume this is on public land and not someone’s yard

im surprised so many here have an issue with roadside memorials. If someone's child was killed from their car hitting a tree alongside the road then I don't have any issue with it being there for however long they wish to maintain it.

Although I bet grass cutters absolutely loath the damn things.

Private land..fine

I was talking of thise along hiways and roads, that need to be upkept and mowed regularly.
Dont signs, monuments, etc need permission or permits?

There's one on Briar Forest and Gessner in Houston that I pass by each morning on the way to work. It looks like it's been there for decades. I've been tempted to step out of my car at a red light to see who it was and when it happened.

I've noticed that there is a well kept memorial at the corner of Hwy 367 and Hwy 365, the state highway between Rayne and Eunice. The other day I slowed to look at the dates....1994. That's a tad bit long.

I knew the location without looking it up. They put grooves in the highway to notify people of the stop signs. I guess it was a popular place to just roll on through.

They used to annoy me until years ago I saw a guy at the "memorial" on I-10 near Blue Bayou bawling and pounding the ground. It was a group of large crosses with several small ones. I don't know if it was a father that lost his family or what. Ever since seeing that I figure if it helps someone else grieve then go for it, it certainly isn't bothering me

I've seen some for years.
Maintained. New flowers.
There's one I know where she was run over on her graduation night, in the crosswalk. SF is a terrible place to be a pedestrian.
People run reds all the time.

How? It reminds me to take care in those locations.

A little over 15 years ago, my nephew was killed when his car ran off the road into the woods. He was on his way home late at night after working a double shift and fell asleep at the wheel. Every year his parents visits the spot where he died and places flowers next to the tree that ended his life. The landowner told them they can visit whenever they please.

This is the correct answer to your question

I wish cellphones would disable the moment you start the vehicles engines. Phone related accidents are way too frequent. I've prob seen 3 opposite lane corrections this month.

I drop a new dirt bike helmet every year at the spot where my cousin died. I spray paint them bright colors so all the drivers can see
