Back in the day, you could get Gladys Night and The Pips for around $20k. For about $7k, you could get And The Pips.

I have never and would never turn down a friend that asked, but I do think the expenses expected are a waste and only getting worse with social media.

$300 to wear something once is ridiculous. I don't even like accepting money that people insist on giving me for coming to my tailgate much less expecting my friends to shell out for that.

We can and do this at any number of places and have a blast.

It doesn’t cost $300 to rent a tux.
I purchased one five years ago because I go to at least three black tie events a year, but don’t even mind if I would have to rent a nicer one for a wedding.

And hanging with friends all weekend for a nice wedding is just a little different than drinking beer with your buddies at a bar or tailgate

Those are the same people who try to insinuate that others are stupid for spending what they would consider a lot of money on a wedding. I also like how they equate it to automatically mean you’ll get a divorce if you didn’t cheap out in a wedding like they did.

Maybe some people have more money than you do and the amount may not matter if it is the wedding you want.

Yes...
I have a burgundy velvet bridesmaid dress, a burgundy regular dress, lavender, yellow and navy blue. BTW: none of them could be cut off and worn again.

Yes, it most certainly can. The one I rented last month was $250 and that wasn't from some specialty shop.

That's all fine and good unless the bride wants her own specific colors (which seems like every time).

The bachelor party was different. The wedding weekend wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

I wont do any more unless its a long term friend.

Its miserable and expensive. The groom has so little to do with how that day goes. I don't enjoy getting barked at by bride, MIL, bridesmaids, aunts, great aunts, etc etc about what to wear, when to be there, how much not to drink.

its a giant favor to be in a wedding for someone, not an honor.... unless you aren't paying for anything.

Half these people will be divorced in less than 5 years. A quick wedding in the smokies has lasted 17 years for me. Don't need a $20k magical wedding

Just me and the wife went to a chapel to get married. Cost $300 pictures and all. Half price on Fridays.

We went on Friday for $150, wife bought a $20 white dress and I used a suit that I had.

Been 7 years so far.

Bro. Perils has a tux you can rent for $110 which include shoes. Stop going to Tux rental places outside shitty malls and men’s warehouse.

This is a weird way to tell us that you have no friends.

If you had friends, you would gladly spend the money and time to be involved in their big day.

How many weddings have you been in?

Im in my mid 30s. I have been in 9 I think. Some were GREAT. some were awful.. some in between. You just get tired of it. It ends up being a 2-3 weekend thing (bach party, showers, wedding) and when you get my age, you start being more protective of your free time.

It ain't personal, I just don't enjoy being at someone else's disposal, both financially and socially, for that long these days.

Bridezilla is a thing. Any back-talking by groomsmen to the women involved will ONLY make it tougher on your buddy (groom)

So, you shut up, get drunk, and take it

10 that I can think of on the fly.

My sisters (no pics) was 2 years ago and it might be the last one I’ll be in. I’m 36. My wife (no pics) had an absolute blast and we went hard for the weekend.
