It ends up being a 2-3 weekend thing (bach party, showers, wedding) and when you get my age, you start being more protective of your free time.

Oh the horror, you have to hang out with your friends for a few weekends

Some of you guys are miserable.

My wife has spent more time and money on a wedding that she is in this weekend than ours. Bridal shower, bachelor party, rehearsal dinner, wedding day etc.

Sorry your wife's friends are poor. I've been in several weddings and I have never incurred any expenses other than wedding gift and chipping in to buy groom's booze, lap dances at bachelor party.

Why would your wife be paying for rehearsal dinner? That's the groom's parents responsibility.

What's she paying for on wedding day? I'm very confused.

ETA:

When I got married, my wife's parents covered all dresses and tuxes for the wedding party. They also covered hotel rooms for everyone at the Royal Sonesta. It was a 3 day party.

Just don’t crap on people who choose to do it another way

i'm not. I get it, and I assume it's normally the women who push for the extravagant days. Although I know a few guy friends who were just as involved in the planning as their lady...

I'm sure my woman is going to want some kind of celebration or something at some point, I have just always found it very.... hmm idk the word.. just so over the top and involved
