It’s not just “hipster and granola” parents if you are trying to say it’s just liberals. I know a Super conservative chick who is also the most ridiculous anti vaxxer out there. One picture she has her gun in her work out pants saying #comeandgetit and the next one she is talking about some ridiculous stats that are obviously slanted toward her way of thought. I also know some very liberal folks who tell the anti vaxxers to gtfo and get your kids their shots. What I am saying is the crazy is everywhere and this one thing seems to have infected both sides with the dumb.

It's people that are very dumb and think they are smart

But we haven’t had serious outbreaks in the last 20 years until now. What’s the difference? The amount of illegals flooding our border has increased

Relatively the number of diseases is not that high. But it’s much higher than the US rate. And the rate that diseased people are coming into the US is much higher than the rate of people being infected within the US. My other post cited the 2000+ quarantined illegals, greater than the total number of Measles cases this year by almost 3x.

I’m not saying these are bad people, and I’m not trying to blame all our problems on them. But this is something everybody needs to understand. It’s a major concern for our safety. 3% of people (at minimum) do not generate antibodies when given a vaccine. Those people are susceptible to measles from these sources. Some of those people will die, through no fault of their own, if exposed to these diseased people, who have no right to enter our country and infect our populace

Anyone that blames it entirely on one group is ignorant, and likely has an agenda. It's happening because of BOTH things.

While this is true you also have to take into account that a large percentage of our illegal mexican immigrants did not attend school.

Who on TD is gonna be the first measles candidate?

From the weekly threads, you’d think 764 people were dead. How many people have died? How many seriously injured? I’m assuming none, or that would be prominently displayed in the stats.

Why the constant hand-wringing over something so inconsequential? 20 people die of lightning strikes every year; 400+ die falling out of bed; 900 are killed by lawn mowers. 700 casesof measles with no deaths doesn’t warrant the pearl clutching exhibited daily on this board.

I'd contend that those immune to the vaccination is a smaller number than the ever growing pod of anti-vaxxers.

You don't necessarily die from Measles. But it can cause premature births, birth defects, and death among infants who can't get the vaccine early enough.

As someone who is planning on having another child in the near future, this is a big concern.

Well illegal immigration has been around for a long time. I was under the impression Trump had been successful curbing much of it, yet measles are through the roof this year.
