They should have Jon turn down being king and instead living in exile as a lumberjack like Dexter.

Is that how Dexter ends?

I just started the last season finally.

Thanks for ruining it for me.

RA’d for random spoiler.

Book readers?

Generally speaking a specific subtype of book reader, yes. I’ve read the books but never enjoyed the show because it gave me a pseudo-intellectual high.

The people shitting on the show here are, largely, the ones who occupied the weekly “laugh at hodor” threads that popped up through the first 4 seasons or so. That was a HUGE part of their viewing experience. And now that’s gone and they hate it.

Now obviously this isn’t everyone, some people will always dislike episodes or seasons for nearly innumerable reasons. But it’s impossible to ignore the most common denominator found in these threads since season 5 or so.

Tormund did foreshadow that ending, you never know, this board apparently does love its foreshadowing.

Hated the first half of this episode but liked the end. Mainly the Tyrion and Varys interactions.

That showed me how stupid Varys really is. Immediately working behind the scenes because he thinks he can just install Jon Snow out of no where? As if the realm will just embrace a Targaryen that they think will go mad just like the last two? It’s poorly conceived. Varys is dumb.

I don’t think they said half the Dothraki are alive, and I would agree that more people lived than probably should have.

That being said, I still love the show and this season. I think a lot of people are being very Russell Westbrooky. By that, I mean he does 85% of things well and 15% poorly, but people will say he sucks. 85% of this season has been really well done, but so many of you are focusing on the parts you don’t like it and just saying the show sucks now.

The part of that scene that annoyed me was Varys saying something to the effect of "you know what I want." But he's never truly said what motivates him, other than "the good of the realm." Whatever that is.

I don't know about this theory, dude. The quality of comments most of these people are posting don't sound like they come from people who read books.

I guess the writing can't be that bad if you're quoting dialogue from a character in the actual conversation you're complaining about.

Oh, I did. I thought the point of all the GoT threads was to just be a dick.

A lot of the disappointment is that the story is coming to an end.

One thing is that character arcs are ending, and that's always a bit disappointing. Things don't always turn out the way you want them to.
Also with things wrapping up, the anticipation and speculation is going away. A big part of the fun was guessing where things went next, and now we are done with that. You might still have a little hope for something, but 95% of us can see how this is going to wind up. And it's hard to even discuss guesses because things are leaking, and if you pose a guess someone else might answer with a spoiler. I saw that thread title and have steered clear, but you can see people referencing the leaks in every thread now.
