I am afraid this really great show will come to a miserable ending. HBO is known for this, having great critically acclaimed series that they can’t seem to hold up the quality in their ending season(s). Look no further than “The Sopranos”. Really disappointing trend.

Bad show ending increases demand for books. Pretty smart play by GRRM.

The demand for the books is already at an all-time high. And honestly, once people get the show ending, they'll forgo the books and just read cliffs to see how they compare. So many people started the books because of the show and if he waits it out too long, those people will be lost as readers because they have their ending.

I think he probably knew the show ending cant really wrap up all the book loose ends. He will milk this cow for another 20 to 30 years easy.

I dont think so. I am pretty sure he will not make the same mistake as the harry potter lady. She punted on 2nd down. Could have made harry potter money for 20 or 30 more years.

I mentioned this in Duke's thread, but you simply can't repeat what people loved about the early seasons. You can't continue adding characters and subplots. You've got to move the story forward and come to a conclusion. The finality of everything makes it incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to deliver on all the potential. The potential has to come to an end at some point, and that potential is almost always disappointing.

Just to be clear, what are the horrific, Dexter challenging level of terrible spoilers people were concerned about? I’ve seen various things I hate that have been contradicted by other spoilers, and I just wanted to clarify which things we consider to be show killing.
So far, it seems like everyone hates Bran as King. Any other in particular?

That does seem hard to justify. How could they build a wall without the COTF? How could the White Walkers be recreated without them?
I don’t mind him saying frick it and going North, but I don’t see a purpose for the Knights’ Watch.

The ending I want is for Arya to murder Dany. Jon to make Dany the night Queen with a dragon glass ritual and for Jon and Dany to ride off on Drogon to live out their days beyond the wall.

I’m skeptical at this point of those leaks being fake since the E4 leaks turned out to be true.

Big difference is that we got all the video of ep4 spoilers.
None for the rest of the events leaked thus far.
