Anybody here take prescription Adderall?
Nah, I have coping skills.

I wonder how much more productive I would be with a prescription but like you, I don't want to be known as someone who needs it.
Screw the haters. If it works, use it.

What insurance company? You can usually get your doc to tell the insurance company you've tried the other meds and Vyvanse is the most therapeutic.
EDIT - and to OP, ADHD medication changed my life and allowed me to excel in my career. It's not without its downsides, though, especially if you take it every day. When I first started, I got kind of carried away with how productive it made me, and I became way less social.
If you let the medicine guide your behavior, you can easily spend all day looking at porn or reading reddit and get the same satisfaction (dopamine) as though you'd accomplished a real task. It can also frick with your short-term memory, so making lists and staying organized is important -- and the medicine does not necessarily make you develop those habits if you didn't already have them.

I got approval for Vyvanse on the new insurance, that wasn't the problem. The problem was my first prescription under the new insurance was $335 for 30 days.
My new insurance is a sky high deductible plan where prescription coverage is a dollar for dollar out of pocket charge until you hit the out of pocket limit for the year. Aderall XR having a generic was a worthwhile switch at that point.

But, you will build a tolerance for it and need more and more. If you are like me with an addictive personality, that is a major downside as you will run through the whole prescription in 2 weeks. Going the other 2 weeks without the drug sucks.
The key is to take it as prescribed. You should ride out the high and sleeplessness. Then the effects are more subtle, but it works as intended.
Vyvanse is the next generation. Many people find it superior to Adderall, plus it’s harder to abuse.

20mgXR twice per day M,T,H; Once on W,F,S,S.
As a compulsive to-do list-writer, it's a game-changer.
Who care's what anybody thinks when you're getting shite DONE.

Yes been prescribed Adderall XR 20mg and Adderall 10mg for a little over 15 years now and Ive had no side effects. Also haven't had an urge to try any other drug. Thats bc I have actual ADD compared to alot of people that take it bc they want some legal amphetamine.

I typically inject it up my urethra.

Try patient assistance program. Could help you but their patent expires in like 2025....so itll still be awhile before cheaper generics are available unfortunately.

If you are willing to commit yourself to Adderall it is fantastic. There is nothing like it. You will undoubtedly become a more productive employee. You will get things accomplished in half the time. This is all true.
There is a trade off though. If you do indeed commit to it, and take it over a long period of time you will never be the same again. This is not hyperbole, it is the truth.
When someone uses Adderall excessively for prolonged periods, their brain’s chemical equilibrium will be thrown off.
As use escalates in response to growing tolerance for the drug, the brain slowly loses its capacity to manufacture these important chemicals independently, forcing you to take more and more Adderall just to feel normal.
This applies to many drugs, but Adderall is a great example of this since it is used so frequently.

Took enough that I got PEC’d into Vermilion and they promptly relieved me of the prescription

oh look, it’s the weekly adderall thread again.

Same with me. Insurance deductible skyrocketed & my 30 day Vyvanse script is $300!

Going the other 2 weeks without the drug sucks. Not physical withdrawal symptoms like opioids or alcohol, but psychological symptoms where you get super depressed because your brain has been riding the Adderall high.
The monthly cycle of doing that is exhausting. Those first 2-3 days after the script runs out are a killer. It’s damn near impossible to even get out of bed. Ive fallen asleep mid conversation before in those days. Plus, you’ll eat like a freed hostage after starving yourself for 2 weeks.
That’s when shite gets really difficult and hard to manage. After about a year of that, most people I know just give up on the whole thing and learn to live life without the good ol amphetamine salts.
