This is better, if we're just talking about designs IMHO

I'm actually shocked the flag hasn't changed by now.

I don't know why the union ever allowed a state to proudly display a traitorous symbol on a state flag.

The state doesn't have the right to enslave a certain group of people for any reason.
Do you believe all men are created equal ?

This.
Speaking from a position of pure aesthetics, it's cluttered, with the confederate callback on the union hastily thrown in.
Not the worst flag in the country (that distinction goes to ohio), but definitely occupying one of the lowest rungs.

That flag doesn't really offend anyone.
It's nothing but a power-play....anyone who says differently is a virtue-signaling liar....

I wonder sometimes if it would have been changed already if the "activists" hadn't been so "active".
I think so.
We are still very rebellious in the Hospitality State, and don't take kindly to being told what to do.

Not true....
White Liberals assure me this flag is the reason that most black Mississippians don't have $500K per year jobs.

The MS gulf coast tells your state what to do all day, every day.

I say this as a former Mississippi resident, it's just out of place. No real reason for an official state flag to trumpet the symbol of defiance to the country as a union other than banal divisiveness (which was clearly the intent, given the time frame of its adoption).
I have more important shite to get offended by than a silly/stupid looking flag, but it's a bad look for the state of Mississippi tbqh.

That is a stupid question, but nice attempt at a strawman.

For what the flag represents...a state clinging to the Confederacy. There is no other reason to maintain it.
Me thinks you don’t know what the Confederacy represented, at least not anything beyond what your third grade textbook told you.

The symbol is one that represents treason and failure.
It seems to me that the people who CHOOSE a symbol should determine the meaning of that symbol, rather than those who attempt to overlay another "meaning" in order to oppose it.

Regardless, a state flag shouldn't be divisive. This is. So change the freaking flag.
So what if the new flag is divisive....? What if I decide it offends me?

I just think it's ironic that many people who will push for the flags' replacement are outsiders, many of whom probably own at least one Che' shirt.

Speaking of straw men...
Implying that paying taxes and being literally enslaved are comparable is comical.
If you don't like the taxes in this country, you have the freedom to go elsewhere.
