Country radio just plain out sucks right now. Bobby Bones is terrible. The award shows are terrible. It's just Suburban Pop, generic and forgettable, all under the guise of 'Country'.

It lost it's folk appeal, its soul. People have changed and are attracted to superficial pop culture. The traditional things that fueled Country music, Rural America, working class are much different than they were 40 years ago. It's more urban/suburban.

There's still some good stuff out there....a lot of crap to. It's not so much about the music anymore, it's more about image and the "formula." Apparently, references to sweet tea, partying, tractors and boots, are mandatory in country songs.

The industry co-opted the term “country” & applied it to some sort of pop derivative.
I just spent 3 days at the Larry Joe Taylor Fest west of Dallas. Country music is alive & well.
Add an adjective like “Texas”, Alternative, or red dirt to “country.” You’ll find some good music ... and some you don’t like.
