I’d look at Lovelady at UCF before Bianco

I’d look at Brian O’Connor from UVA.

Need to add Butch Thompson and Tim Corbin to that list.

He is intriguing, but my problem is they have gotten worse every year he has been at ucf

It would certainly be interesting to see if we could pull one f these successful coaches that is entrenched in the position they’re at now. Won’t be as easy as some posters on this board think. Godwin/Lovelady are far more likely than Tadlock/Corbin etc IMO

Oconnor is friends with PM and ive heard some not so great things about his handling of pitchers.

Corbin told lsu no before, so i dont think he is a realistic option.
Thompson is intriguing, but he has only been a coach for 3 years and hasnt won big yet

I don’t know what situation he walked into at UCF but I certainly get that concern.

Again, what exactly does Paul do?

Whine in interviews?
Throw players under the bus?
Pout in the dugout?
Not live up to LSU expectations?

Lets be honest, no baseball coach is going to live up to our expectations, no one is winning multiple titles

O’Connor comes from the CPM coaching tree and they are really good friends. He’s not coming to LSU if they fire Maineiri. Would have to be he retires and asks him to be his replacement more than likely.

You can’t just go out and get who you want because you are LSU. Established coaches from power schools from the south aren’t going to come to a place that just fired a coach two years removed from a NC game appearance. Baseball coaches care more about stability over money unlike football coaches.

There are two routes you can go. Either go find someone from a Northern school that has been winning but can’t win consistently like you did to get Paul or a young up and comer from a smaller southern school that has shown signs of being able to win at a high level and is ready to take the next step. I admittedly do not know who these people are because I haven’t really looked into because I don’t think Paul is going anywhere until after next season at the earliest unless he retires.

2nd...TCU hasn’t even gotten to the finals yet

3rd...they just lost a midweek game to UTA...a weekend game at home to Seton Hall...and their 1st game this weekend series to Kansas St..... according to our fans..that’s intolerable

Broussard led the team in batting before getting injured last year and is good in the field and on the base paths. If he can get things going he is a legitimate #2 because he might be the best bunter on the team as well as good speed.
Hughes, yea, like I said if Broussard gets things going like the first half last year he will be fine...

I don’t see any coach in this day and age of college baseball leaving a power 5 private school for a power 5 public school. You can manipulate scholarships a little easier at the private schools.

Cliff Godwin would be a great hire. Has assistant experience at Vandy/LSU/Ole MIss. ECU seems like they always have a good squad and are playing in the postseason every year. I think the step up in resources would make him a great hire.

Louisville and Texas Tech coach would be my choice. I’d call Sully at Florida first just for the hell of it

The only non automatic no in that group would be McDonnell and if you think CPM has struggled in Omaha you’re gonna love him.
