If you think the Mexican police are incapable of bringing the heat, you are sadly mistaken.
Mexican police = cartel (at least in some circumstances). In others they hone their craft fighting them.

How long does Jose hold out if the US decides to intervene in support of its citizens under attack? A US Heavy Brigade supported by Longbow Apaches on that wide open terrain would wipe the floor with the cartel

How many of you know-it-alls lived in Mexico for at least a year(I did for 8 years). How many of you actually worked for a cartel? I did. Crickets! A bunch of frauds I suspect! Any questions?

We probably should have wiped out the cartel a long time ago. The reason we haven't is the large number of pols on this side of the border on the take.
We need a Night of the Long Knives, an American Kristallnacht, where a whole bunch of traitors and drug dealers disappear along with the cartel bigwigs. They might think they could fight the US Military but those boys with the gloves off would handle the cartel rather quickly.
