Public elementary education costs the us taxpayer 11,300 per student, per year. Private school tuition averages 7000. Now look at the outcomes and tell us if money is the issue.

This is a nice stat that doesn't tell the story. The issue is the amount of money that goes into Special Education. When you have a "student" that is bed ridden and in virtually a comatose state, that student is special needs. Those needs may include a nurse, multiple teachers, a small army of "para-educators", a specialized PE teacher, and a slew of central office administrators and laywers overseeing it all. That 11 grand per student isn't making it into the classroom of your average public school student amigo.

Mark Twain...
There are lies, there are damn lies, and then there are statistics.

TLDR - The Department of Ed and their unrealistic requirements are the issue.

Comparing the education of public vs private is idiotic. I've had public students blow the doors off private students in competitions. The difference is public education has students with parents that don't care, thus bringing averages down. Private schools usually don't have kids without caring parents. Doesn't mean the education is better.

One third.
And she wants to give them more money? In the real (non-government) world when someone has this record of failure you stop paying them.

Only ingovernment is the solution to failure to do MOAR money and more power to the failing organization.

It’s sillly.

So not just Obama.

Most parents who pop for private school are more involved at every step.

School was a boring waste of my time.

I enjoyed chorus, and woodshop.

The rest stunk. Hopefully computers can take over math and science instruction.

So....let’s see...

AOC is complaining about cutting funding from literacy programs she points out have a low success rate?

Community/parent involvement, by definition, makes the education better.

She should know. The education she got has proven shifty.

This reminds of idiots that were screeching b/c Rahm Emmanuel was closing dropout factories in Chicago. Rahm was no dummy.

The future of education is online, anyway.

Throwing money at the Problem is always their answer. Start by rebuilding the family units, that the only way this improves, not more funding...

Let’s take all the kids whose parents are invested in their education (not necessarily monetarily) and see how they’re doing. Maybe that’ll shine a little light on what our problems really are.

The point has clearly sailed over your head when you use this thread as an opportunity to defend the Muslim-in-Chief.

Go look up when the federal Department of Education was established, Otto.

You can rebuild family units by ending war on drugs and reforming welfare.

there is literally no reason for the existence of the federal education department

So when liberals whine about something in that department being cut my attitude is always the same

If the department still remains not enough has been cut
