This. Guadalajara, Mexico and Istanbul have been my favorite cities I've been to so far. Istanbul is massive and has a unique mix of old and modern architecture/culture. People were friendly and not once did I feel unsafe.
As for not visiting, the Middle East (excluding Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and north Pakistan) is my answer.

I went a lot of places. While I had a good time, I was always glad to come home. I never did any western Asia, eastern Europe, Africa, or the poles. While I was in southeast Asia extensively, I only went to China for about 6 minutes.
I have always been a fan of not going where I am not wanted. Also, gumbo does not exist overseas.
