Reds to New Orleans.

As a Reds fan here in Mississippi I would love this.

I'm not in any way joking when I say I forget the Reds are a baseball franchise for about 11.5 of the 12 months every year.

If true(which I doubt) this is sad. As a youngster in the late 70's and early 80's, the Reds were one of the most recognizable brands in sports. We've lost a whole generation.

The Reds need to move to Nashville.

The Reds have generally been irrelevant since about 1991.

IIRC, that was around the time Marge Schott made her “million dollar naggers” comment about one of her injured players (Eric Davis?).

No. Shorten the season by 20 games or have double headers on the weekend.

This would never happen. Shortening the season by 20 games means millions of dollars lost in advertising. MLB would not forego millions of dollars in hopes of saving a few games from a weather delay (that will be made up anyways). Double-headers on the weekend would mean that teams start to sit the stars and let's be honest, who wants to go watch a team full of possible minor leaguers? Nobody.

The MLB could definitely schedule the season better in the cities that have the worst beginning of spring weather. They did this with the Cubs this season and pushing back their home opener until the 8th. I have been to a Cubs opening day when it was sub-30 degrees and I lasted 2 innings before I went to a local bar and watched the rest.

Attendance looks so bad at all the ballparks so far this season. Including the ones with domes

They have improved the product tremendously the past few years.

Serious question- how?

I used to watch a bunch of games in the 80’s and 90’s and now I could give two shits. Football I don’t care who is on, I’m watching.

Like, legitimately I want to know. What has changed in the last few years that I am missing. Because outside the Cubs playoffs, I’ve hardly watched baseball since the early 2000’s.

So baseball goes from the doldrums of the mid 2000’s to a 2-3 year resurgence a few years ago to now a dull and boring league again?

Conditioning. In the 90s a few juiced and produced HRs etc. Now the majority of players take their health serious, and the product has improved. On the flip side, there seems to be more muscle related injuries, and many think this is due to the same reason.

Yes the Reds were one of the original professional baseball teams, and I’m not sure if it’s written or a message unwritten rule, but they always open at home to start the season.

True "Opening Day" was March 28 this year. They could move that back to April 2. That removes 5 days of likely cold temps from the schedule. You can still end on Sept 29 - you'd just have to remove a few off days. Right now, for example, the Astros have 24 off days. Cut that back to 19 and you're good.

those off days were part of a collective bargaining agreement a couple of years ago.

No wonder that, while negotiating new rules about luxury taxes and draft-pick compensation, the players union also fought for one notable concession in the collective bargaining agreement that was ratified last winter. Beginning in 2018, the major league season will be 187 days long, not 183, giving players an extra four days off scattered throughout the season.
