You are spot on.
Best case scenario is that WW is working undercover with the FBI to weed out bad handlers etc. IF he was, then part of it would be NO ONE knowing, including LSU. Therefore, he would understand LSUs actions. And, LSU and Alleva would look like pillars of excellence for doing the right thing until compliance dept was satified.
IMO, something like this is the only thing that exonerates WW to thebpoint where he stays at LSU.
And to those who say 'duke this' or "but bill self"...etc. maybe, just maybe thise institutions will take a major blow from the NCAA for not acting immediately and getting out in front if this, by taking identical actions as LSU has.
But the fact remains, with the transcripts of thise tapes, LSU had very little choice once WW decided he couldnt talk.

Weird how long this melt lasted.
It's not like the media wasn't stirring the pot everyday while the tigers were progressing through the tournaments.

Yea, the lesson learned is that it's time for Alleva to be out of a job.

People need to watch this documentary on Netflix: At All Costs. It will help put college basketball recruiting into perspective.
It's funny how these AAU players compare college "offers". One of the biggest selling points is early playing time. It is a big deal.
The biggest take-away is the high school basketball season doesn't matter anymore. College coaches visit these AAU tournaments because they do not coincide with the College Basketball season. Spring and early summer become the most important time of the year for these basketball college prospects. Adidas and Nike have also made it very lucrative at least for the AAU coaches. Who knows how much the talented kids are getting paid. The target audience for Nike and Adidas are 25 year and younger via social media. AAU has become a very powerful avenue to sell their apparel to this demographic.

Bruce Pearl says Hi.
Bruce Pearl isn't on wiretap. His assistant, Chuck Person, who was on camera talking about bribes, was fired, indicted, and plead guilty. He's facing up to 30 months in prison.
Pearl and Wade are apples and oranges. Wade's situation is far more comparable to Person's.

I might have agreed with the OP if these were the only statements. However Joe's statement after the first win went way too far and overboard. Pretty much immolating LSU on national tv for everyone to see. I don't know how you can square what he said to everything's gonna be ok.

You really think the admin handled this situation correctly?
quote:It's not a matter of had, it's that Wade needs the suspension if only to avoid press conferences.
You think the admin HAD TO suspend him?

Our biggest problem is when WW clearly described his concern over the handler not getting a big enough share of his "offer" after the mother and player took as much as they did.
That's the part that WW has to have an answer for...and there just isnt a solid answer that one can come.up with. Its big trouble

Was never implicated in the current scandal. Chuck Person was, he was fired.

It took you this long to figure out that both sides did what they had to do and now we just have to wait for the process to play out?

If that is the extent of the info that is known, Wade and his legal counsel will have an answer to protect Wade and LSU. Just brainstorming I can come up with a few good answers (depending on specific circumstances).

It seems that the LSU admin have realized that at this point it's better to let sleeping dogs lie until the Dawkins trial is finished.
This isn't directed at you, but this has been understood since the suspension was issued.
I don't understand the sense of urgency concerning this. I've seen several threads wondering when he's returning, why is it taking so long, etc.
This isn't new. It's been this way since his lawyer told him he couldn't speak until after the trial. It's still the same situation. LOL Nothing will happen until either after the trial or plea bargain.

Wade's youth, and accomplishments over a very short time tend to be expiating. They draw stark contrast with the FKing-Alleva situation.

He was suspended one day before LSU was to play for their first SEC title in 10 years and two weeks ahead of the NCAAT in which LSU was going to have its best seed in nearly 40 years. There was urgency for LSU to have the HC that put them in that position on the sideline for the most important stretch of the season. It's not as if he was suspended for the first couple of OOC games.
Now we can (and have) argue about which side is right/wrong, justified or not. But I certainly understand the urgency from the team, fans and coach's standpoint to try to have Wade coach in the NCAAT.
Moving forward, every day this situation remains in limbo it is potentially hurting the program. The signing period begins on April 17. With this left unresolved LSU won't be signing anymore players for next season at this time. Also, new coaches are being hired. If LSU waits and ultimately fires Wade, then they will be at a disadvantage in trying to find a new HC. The top candidates will be taken and other coaches may be reluctant to make a jump since they will have likely already filled their rosters for next season
Finally, the players with remaining eligibility are left in a bit of limbo. I doubt guys like Smart, Days, Williams are going to want to stick around if Wade is out. And if you don't think rival coaches aren't back-channeling to see if they can poach these guys from LSU then you are pretty naive.
Whether you blame LSU, Wade, or both, one thing is clear, the uncertainty around the program right now is harming the future.

This is by design. Alleva is acting out of spite and is actively trying to poison LSU athletics while he still has the power to do so.

“ i’m not sure Will Wade brings us to victory”
Because the LSU administration arbitrarily set up a formal meeting for A coach under notice of a subpoena to discuss what his possible testimony in a federal trial might be, we will never know.
We do know that he was capable of leading LSU to the SEC title. Not an easy feat over the likes of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Auburn.
