I think you know that isn't going to be true for the majority of them. You missed the point. These people aren't just saying Wade is "dumb" for talking to Dawkins, they are insisting that he went totally against the norm by not letting someone else do the talking. Just exactly what makes people believe that they know how this works? How do they know other coaches aren't doing the same? I mentioned that we already know Sean Miller and Bill Self were. We don't have all the information yet.
So, if a lot MORE big names come out, what are people going to say, when they were so convinced that Wade was acting out of the norm? They don't even know what he was talking about, yet. It was probably against NCAA rules, but maybe not nearly as egregious as what other programs are doing, to the point that they would pay other people to do their dirty work, like Rick Pitino did. What went on at Louisville wasn't just against NCAA rules. It was downright criminal.

Nice made up conspiracy.
Virtually 100% of those are virulently anti-Wade, pro-FKing shills.
That much is no conspiracy at all.

Shouldn't have been on the phone with him... dumbest decision ever... Wade needed a middleman in another state to handle all under the table business

All I know is Dawkins and the FBI have had a history for a long time.... LINK

I’m guessing these conversations happen all the time and Will Wade just got extremely unlucky.

Should ALWAYS assume that.

Great idea. Only talk to those who agree with your point of view.

Ther have been several comments that Wade should have anticipated his conversation with Dawkins would be recorded. Why?
I have my suspicions.

Why should Wade have anticipated his conversation would be recorded

seriously was not me. The most I ever did is the guy I was talking about would front me 3 or 4 quarter bags. That way I could sell to friends and give him the money later. I wouldn't have to go to his house 3 or 4 times a week. Like I said the guy was very paranoid and in his business it served him very well.

If Wade broke the rules, or directed the rules be broken, he should have conducted himself in ways that maintained plausible deniability at all times especially with any correspondence. His mistake was having the discussion himself instead of others having it for him.

...And? What, exactly, does that have to do with my point? You posted that link as if it were news. We already know he's been in trouble with the FBI. He's the guy right in the center of it.
Is anyone here defending Dawkins? Guys like him are why this system of pay for play exists. It isn't like coaches just throw money at recruits because they feel like it. These handlers make themselves, essentially, agents. And if you want to even contact many of the big name recruits, you have to play "the game". We can all sit here and say that we wish coaches would just stay away from those guys and learn to deal with lesser players, but if you wanna win championships, this is the way it is. And it sucks. It shouldn't be that way.
So, if Wade is guilty, then he made a mistake. But he's far from alone and , in my opinion, the people who created this underbelly in college basketball are the one's who really need to pay. Let the coaches serve suspensions and pay fines. But these wannabe agents need to all be in prison.

There’s actual idiots on this board that keep saying “at least use a burner phone” Like the FBI can’t record conversations over a burner phone
But they can’t prove you said it if they can’t draw the records back to a personal phone like in Wade’s case. That’s why you use a burner phone.

All programs are doing it. Wade was one of the few coaches to be directly linked to someone like Dawkins. His mistake wasn't playing the game; his mistake was making himself the point person instead of others. When he spoke directly with Dawkins, regardless of what was discussed, he exposed himself and LSU to scrutiny. Period.

The FBI can use voice recognition software to match his voice. It might not be considered hard evidence in the convoluted court of law, but it would be pretty close.
A burner phone would have been useful if he were only texting.

A burner phone would not have mattered. Wade's line wasn't tapped, Dawkins' line was. Even if he used a burner phone and the line couldn't be confirmed, you don't think everyone can identify Wade's voice on a recording?
