This report was the best result that Trumpkins could have hoped for, although the obstruction of justice question is left a little murky. And, while probably not likely, we'll see if SDNY or some other jurisdiction (D.C.) takes any action. Frankly, I'm perfectly fine with impeachment being off the table at this point.I'd rather see him lose an election eventually, whenever that may be. It would demonstrate more voters returning to their senses. But The country is strong enough to endure another term of Trump ( I think).I just wish his acolytes were slightly less obnoxious. The irony is, in my opinion, that
Trump has no true vision for America(MAGA is a hollow phrase)His presidency is all about Trump and the Trump brand. Future generations will wonder WTF happened.
Sorry, guys,I'm not melting about anything. In fact, I've adjusted to this peculiar phase of American history. It will pass, as everything does. I don't want an ultra-progressive in the White House, and I don't think it will happen. I've said all along that a moderate Republican or Democrat would be fine with me. America has always aggregated toward the middle, and it works. Listen up: Contrary to some opinions around here, our best years were not in the 18th a 19th Centuries. In fact, we were at our zenith post-WWII,economically and militarily, and yet, the values and institutions of that era seem to be what a lot of you guys want to burn down.

How exactly did he obstruct justice? He fired Comey with a recommendation from Acting AG Rod Rat. It's like you people never do any research.

Under oath the following people have testified to this fact

James Comey - Under congressional testimony, The president never tried to interfere with our investigation.

Andrew McCabe - After Comeys firing in congressional testimony, the president has not interfered with our investigation.

James Baker - FBI Lawyer - Congressional testimony and he stated - The president wasn't aware he was even being investigated. How the hell do you obstruct an investigation you aren't even aware exist. The FBI hid it from oversight committees for 9 months.

You are fricking delusional if you think the obstruction thing has any bite.

No, it was not, you are either charged with a crime, or you are not, it is black and white.

Not to feed the fact that I think there was Obstruction, but I thought the wordage was interesting there.

quote:

In making this determination, we noted that the Special Counsel recognized that “the evidence does not establish that the President was involved in an underlying crime related to Russian election interference,” and that, while not determinative, the absence of such evidence bears upon the President’s intent with respect to obstruction. Generally speaking, to obtain and sustain an obstruction conviction, the government would need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a person, acting with corrupt intent, engaged in obstructive conduct with a sufficient nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding. In cataloguing the President’s actions, many of which took place in public view, the report identifies no actions that, in our judgment, constitute obstructive conduct, had a nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding, and were done with corrupt intent, each of which, under the Department’s principles of federal prosecution guiding charging decisions, would need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to establish an obstruction-of-justice offense.

To put in my own words for a paraphrase, “he didn’t do it from any evidence we’ve seen. His actions to defend himself were kinda sketchy, but the actions were consistent of somebody that was innocent of the charges. And his “obstruction” was done in plain sight.”

i.e. if he had done the crime, sure it would have been obstruction. But since we can’t prove he did it, we can’t charge him with obstruction.

Not really. You cannot obstruct justice of you haven't committed a crime. Also, the fact he wasn't charged with anything is pretty clear.
