Read this yesterday. Not the happiest about it but not outraged.
Funny you bring up knives..

You realize the developer and/or publisher are not doing this against their will, right? It isn't all Epic.

I realize that, but it’s Epic that’s poaching them.
I’m just gonna boycott and not buy it, but discussion boards are full of people saying they’ll be taking to the high seas to get this game instead of getting it on epic

Why should I be upset at this? Steam shouldn't be the one stop shop. It needs competition.

The problem is that theyre pulling console exclusive bs into the PC market. Its not just Steam that doesn't have access, its GOG, Origin, Bethesda's launcher, and the dozens of others. I don't want 30 different pieces of bloat ware (and in the case of Epic, spyware/dataminer program) clogging things up just so that I can play exclusive number 23 because some turd decided to incorporate an idea for consoles into the PC market.
I really wish we could do away with launcher stores altogether and go back to physical copies but, we gotta have that anti piracy and money saving from not having to make boxes and cds right?

This is not the argument.

It's nothing like console exclusivity. You know, because you can still play the games on your PC
Sounds like a huge overreaction

Even though I like having my games in one spot, I have no problem with Epic trying to compete with Steam. They do need to do more than just have exclusives. Right now, their amenities are zilch compared to Steam and they need to be working on that.
As others stated, the developers / studios are just as much to blame for agreeing to exclusive deals.
Can't blame them just like I don't blame Epic. Who wouldn't accept MORE money for their product? Steam is stingy so developers are moving to greener pastures.

On top of that, Steam should be more proactive with the crap that gets sold on their website.

You talking Rape Day?
Blah they took it off. I like the idea let the consumer decide. This was a shot directly at that policy though.
But we wouldn't get quality titles like below if someone was put in that chair.

No, it's very similar, and you're dense if you think otherwise. Launchers are the console, and you're only hurting the community and gamers with exclusive titles

I don’t care about games like Rape Day.

I'm still waiting for the reboot of Custer's Revenge.

Another day, another epic games launcher melt.
Posted on 3/22/19 at 7:49 am to McCaigBro69
Imagine the melt if Cyberpunk comes out as an exclusive.
I know it won't which is why I said imagine. Would be the equivalent of the Trump win melt on the poliboard.

Spoken like a true console gamer.

Outside of exclusives, what is Epic doing to compete with Steam? Tell me all the amenities and features that users have that Steam doesn’t? By the way, feel free to include all the features Battle.net, Bethesda, and Origin have that Steam doesn’t. I’ll wait.

Yea, it's not just a store.
The ppl who don't get it more than likely only play consoles or haven't been on Steam while it grew.
For me Steam is PC gaming. Period. It manages my library, backs up my saves, monitors my achievements, connects me with friends, forms a community, let's me stream to other devices and so much more.
Consolers are clueless. It's like if you can only play the game you buy on your console but had to use another app with separate everything to manage your game and connect with friends. So fun with 10 separate friends and achievements lists that don't match. It is stupid.
