Thank you! I couldn't remember why I had Witcher 3 on Gog and not steam. I too had the free Witcher 3 with the 980 purchase.

they won't which is why I clearly stated IMAGINE. In fact I think they already came out and said it would not be exclusive to any platform after the reaction to Metro Exodus.

The horror should Steam or a competitor get better from the competition and improve immensely in the future.
Origin and uPlay have existed for years. There wasn't a lack of competition. The problem is the Epic Games launcher is invasive and people don't want to frick with it.

The whole conversation is funny because I can remember a time when people on this very board thought Steam was a plague on mankind.

I don't lol. I don't know where you get this notion that I'm fighting for Epic only. I'm defending the idea that it doesn't matter what launcher it is to the consumer. There are better resources outside the launcher for whatever you need. Social aspects - Discord, Reviews - Youtube and Reddit, Cloud saves - is an issue currently with Epic, Achievements - who gives a frick? Steam used "features" to lure you to the launcher and developers wanted in on it and used Steam and took the 30% up the arse. Epic as an example is using 12% to lure the developer and allow the consumer to use outside resources rather than rely on a dated system from Steam.

It's less bloatware for the consumer and allows the consumer to pick what they want.

advocating consumer choice

So you are criticizing the choice that consumers may want to use other resources OUTSIDE of the launcher but want consumer choice? I have a choice to not care about what launcher because it doesn't matter. The people that want a specific launcher to succeed (aka Steam) and not another one is LIMITING choice. If you boycott, you are effectively limiting choice for others who don't care.

Why does it matter if it's on Steam or not?

if you cant figure out how to make a game launcher not automatically start up when you turn on your computer, maybe you should just go back to console gaming.

No, it's very similar, and you're dense if you think otherwise. Launchers are the console, and you're only hurting the community and gamers with exclusive titles

Console exclusivity means you need to buy extra hardware to play a game on another platform.

I see how that's similar but let's not "be dense", it's not the same at all, with 3 more clicks of a mouse you can play the game.

I do understand the point, companies are trying to force you into their platform/launcher, but let's not just ignore the fact any "exclusive" game can still be played on the same exact hardware, with no extra cost.

You won’t play a game because of the launcher it’s on? Lol wut?

All my “steam” friends and “community” migrated to discord anyway.

Steam is just a storefront.

That's right. That's what a few on here (especially Parmen) are whining about.

Yes, when that launcher is scanning files unrelated to its own operation and reporting that information without its permission, I don't want to use that program. If you're going to chime in, be educated on the situation at hand otherwise you'll just look like an idiot.

Epic's launcher is scanning steam directory cache for some reason.

They have come out and said they aren't using it without permission, and only for analysis

Who knows but it is shady
