Let's predict the "Gulf of Tonkin" incident that we use to justify a new war with no end in sight

It would be over in less than 2 weeks.

Look. I get that people are tired of the USA sending troops into other countries. But, this is in South America, not Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan.

If we have other surrounding South American countries working with us and sharing the burden of going into Venezuela to help the people, I don't have a problem.

But, we need a clear entry and exit strategy.

The Monroe Doctrine makes sense. We don't want Russia, China or some other country outside of the Americas filling in the void. And we don't need the freaking UN either.

Venezuela is screwed and they desperately need help.

At least we won't have to fly as far when we bomb Caracas. Easy day from Barksdale, Eglin, NAS Pensacola, etc.

Ignoring the political ramifications here and in South America, would it even really be much of a fight?

....Ah send in a squadron of A-10's. Maybe for good measure drop a bunkerbuster on their Military Operations Center. You know right down the center of the building down the ventilation shaft.
