I'm submitting this thread fully aware it will be downvoted and I really don't care as it's time for some constructive criticism and tough love for President Trump's actions on immigration and the open borders snakes he has surrounded himself with and letting himself be snow jobbed by the GOPe crowd and pie in the sky libertarians who support open borders.

A reporter for OANN really laid it out best as it's a damning indictment of Trump's failures that I suspect is from his lack of attention to detail and his obsession with building a wall over everything to a point where other key components of the immigration system really suffers like expanded catch and release, more visas for foreign workers and asylum rules being expanded as well to the point where whole groups of people claiming to be families are showing up at our border.

quote:

I can't overstate how incredibly bad the GOP and Trump have been on immigration over the last two years...

Start w/ the GOP. Paul Ryan is a shill for corporations that want cheap labor and open borders... even worse though he believes in this idiotic libertarian notion that all people in their heart want less government... it's not true.

Paul Ryan made no effort to pass a single piece of Trump's immigration reforms or the wall. In his budgets he expanded catch and release and work visas making the situation all the worse. Mitch McConnell is the same in the Senate.

This is the view that a majority of Republicans in Congress have... do what the donors ask, we always need more cheap labor. Some of the worst offenders - Sen. Tillis, Sen. Gardner, Sen. Cramer, Rep. Gonzalez, Rep. McCaul, Rep. Stefanik and so on.

The other really good Republicans like Paul, Lee, etc... they just don't understand this issue. They fall back to their principles... and good luck winning national elections on that.

So yes, Congress has been bad, but Trump hasn't done anything to push them. His administration have been TRULY TERRIBLE.... it bears repeating. TERRIBLE.
Pompeo has refused to classify the Mexican Drug Cartel as a foreign terrorist organization - a bill Chip Roy sponsored (a great rep!) He has refused to punish Mexico for the opioid crisis. The State Dept. hasn't used their power to fullest to stop both the opioid crisis.

Making things worse is the fact that Pompeo has filled State w/ Bush ppl or Obama ppl. An Obama appointee runs our refugee program. Think about that! Mike Pompeo is no friend to the MAGA agenda.

Nielsen is even worse. She has been openly hostile, firing pro-wall MAGA ppl. The DHS. under Nieslen is worse than Obama's DHS. Now she has a whisper campaign against Lee Francis Cisna, one of the only good ppl in the admin working on immigration

Trump also has a problem w/ his legislative director. First he had Marc Short, a Koch Brothers alum who worked on the Stop Trump campaign in 2016. Short bragged in a politico article how he wasn't pushing Congress to accept any immigration changes Trump campaigned on.

Short now works for Pence. So he once again is far too close to the President.

Short's replacement Shahira Knight was pushed by Gen. Kelly, the man who just gloated about how he would have worked for Hillary and how the wall is stupid! (Kelly also got Nielsen appointed to DHS).

No one was worse at putting bad personnel in places than Johnny DeStefano... use to head PPO and brought Never Trumpers into the admin in droves. He now works w/ Kellyanne Conway.

So without a competent staff that's well qualified for the immigration agenda Trump campaigned on... the admin didn't push for immigration reform, for a wall, to even whip the votes for Congress to support the emergency declaration.

Even worse, the judiciary (namely the 9th circuit) are giving away constitutional rights to illegals like they're candy. We are going to have defacto amensty because of our judges and there's no pushback from Congress or the WH.

Lastly the problem w/ Trump supporters is they're unwillingness to criticize their guy. I get it, he's our quarterback, don't boo him, he's trying... I'm sorry but no. He's caved a lot. With Texas going blue in 10 yrs. or less we don't need cheerleaders we need leaders

Any candidate going into 2020 needs to understand this issue. It's about time the GOP base understands why their party is failing them so miserably on their most important issue.

LINK

Trump needs to remember that he wins when he bullies the GOP, not cower and cave to them at every turn on this issue. It's why he won the nomination in the first place.

I'll just state the obvious here. Trump does not have real institutional control over his administration pushing the immigration agenda he campaigned on and has staffed it with people who do not support it and for some reason has made no efforts to fix it.

Biggest example of that is Trump falling for McConnell and Ryan's lies that he would get his wall if he would just sign this bill or that bill or just wait after a specific election or just wait for the lame duck.

Also, I've been seeing reports that Jared Kushner has been pushing for more visas for foreign workers and more expansions in catch and release. That is not what Trump campaigned on.

Ivanka's husband needs to stick to mideast peace and working trade deals with foreign countries or better yet, just go back to New York.

Friend, if you think anyone is going to read that novel, you are sadly mistaken.

Trump has tried but he has had to deal with the courts overturning his executive orders and of course Congressional Republicans doing nothing. If Congress would act he would not have to go the EO route and could avoid the courts. He just has to assume the Democrats will challenge every EO in the 9th circuit and be prepared for a long fight to get even the simplest things done.

I think the GOP gets a lot more of the blame then Trump . But Trump could have left the government shut down . The GOP should have done a better job actually trying to win the immigration battle . They should have had commercials made showing the head members of ice explaining that we need a wall but that changing the immigration laws wouldn’t cost anything and would help the most . They need to make everyone see that democrats are just importing voters .

Well, there are no alternatives.

Maybe he'll accomplish something more eventually.

Nobody else on the national stage wants to. We are being sold out by everybody on the issue.

One of Trump's biggest mistakes...kind of a double edged sword, He did exactly what he bashed Obama for, which also happened to be his campaign slogan, "drain the swamp". Why would they work with a fella that campaigned on getting rid of them?

I was surprised Trump didn't bash the 12 pro open border Republicans , who were against the emergency order when he vetoed their Liberal crap.

He had a perfect opportunity to totally bash the traitors.

He needs to stop signing spending bills .

Literally everyone is against Trump except the American people. It’s a nearly impossible battle. He either hires people who lie about their allegiance until it’s too late, or they fall for the corruption of Washington at their first chance at riches

Never have I seen a poster who used to be considered Rock solid in common sense fall so hard and become so wishy washy in analysis of the current political spectrum.

Is Sentrius Ben Shapiro?

Therein lies you're problem. He didn't bully me to vote. He doesn't bully, he says what needs to be said. Sorry you have sand in your vagina.

Sort of sad that you’ve gotten 37 downvotes on what is essentially an objective observation of recent political history.

To make a comparison - Trump is the league's most valuable player at quarterback but his team is only good enough for a .500 record. That is not the MVP's fault.

Trump trusted them when they said if he signs the omnibus bill they will support border security and fully fund it.

Trump is used to business and not the pure politics of it. He should have known better. Like Reagan he has had to compromise with the GOPe. It is what it is. Name anyone else that could have survived this long.

The entire OP article is obsolete; as he signed an E.O. emergency that should make even Coulter happy. There is nothing more he can do when he is surrounded on all quarters.

Disagree.

The political class in DC has done nothing for thirty plus years about illegal immigration but pay it lip service. After 9-11 I thought "if nothing can get done now about our porous borders and lack of draconian punishment for hiring illegals nothing ever will".

Do you really believe DJT would veto legislation to secure our borders, revamp punishments for hiring said illegals and once the numbers crossing come down begin to address a hard earned path to citizenship?

Do you believe Trump has not pushed and talked about the issue enough?

The POTUS does not write legislation nor can he pass it.

Where were/are the bills to sign?

I dont like Ryan. But I will say this, it was that Congress that added the fences clause to the DoD counter drugs that allowed Trump to gain an extra 3.1 billion for the wall

Dude, Corporations rule this "country", if you can still call it that...in this globalist push.

Watched a doc on the men who built America - Carnegie, Rockefeller, etc. Shite, they bought the President, they controlled everything.

So Corporations want us to be Mexico... they'll always get what they want because your letter to your Senator isn't worth the millions they are paying that Senator.

We are Mexico already, there's no going back - just look at Cali or Texas.

This is a smart move by Jared and Ivanka, and the right one. If they are going to stay in politics, this makes it easy to disprove Democrats and media claims of racism, by supporting legal immigration and fighting against that which is illegal.
