He is not undersized to play the 4. He will be the strongest player in the league. We have all watched a 6'6 Rodman and 6'4 Barkley dominate the boards. The league is actually smaller now. I believe Williamson will be top 5 in rebounds year one and lead all non-centers in blocks. Border line all star out of the gate..

I'm talking about offensively. He doesn't have the ability right now to be a ball-handling perimeter player in the NBA like LeBron. And his shot isn't good enough to really stretch the floor. And when he does shoot from outside, it's a set shot. He's not someone who can be a perimeter jump shooter.
So that leaves him only being able to play on the inside at the rim. Can he do it at the NBA level? I think so. But I don't think it will lead to him being the transcendent player.
The best comparison I've seen is that he is a better version of Julius Randle.
And for the record, I think Zion will be great in the NBA. But I'm not sure I'm on board with him being the second coming of LeBron like people are hailing him as. His game is still very limited.

people who scoff at zion actually being a good player probably thought jaime lloreda or Brian Beshara were nba worthy

Preach. Am I wrong to think he’s just a more athletic Julius Randle?
Randle doesn’t have “elite” NBA size but he dominated in college because the competition level wasn’t nearly as good as professionals.
As of the past few months, that’s actually a flattering comp as Randle is nearing 20-10 status after he was freed from LAL purgatory.
Nonetheless, ZW is still worthy of the No. 1 pick due to his potential but I think it’s fair to say we should temper expectations if we assume he’s going to be the next LeBron

Did you see Julius randles stats from tonight? He had 45-11-6. So he's a more athletic and explosive version of that. Sounds like an all-NBA player.

Julius Randle is averaging 21/9, so that is a really good player. Blake Griffin came in with no real shot, replied on freakish athletecism and averaged 22/12. Williamson puts up close to either of those, he is an all star, especially in the East.
I like that he isn't shooting a ton of 3s. He is relying on what he does well. Harrell from the Clips is doing something similar and he is going to be up for MIP. Plus helped get his team in the playoffs. There is a ton of value there..

I love “I watched 7 seconds of something and don’t understand it, so I’ll question others” threads

Gotta be a troll job.
Zion is insanely good at basketball.

I think my question is whether or not he is transcendent in the way he is being portrayed. Easily the most hyped player since Lebron. Not sure his skills translate into him becoming a consistent top-10 player in the NBA. We shall see
He's the most dominant college player I've seen since AD.

The only concern I have about Zion is his size. He's 6'7" but really muscular.
So in college he plays inside a lot, and due to his size and athleticism he can dominate.
But in the NBA is he big enough to play bully ball down low? Can he play on the perimeter like a guard?
He's somewhat of a tweener, and those guys have a difficult time fitting in.
Right, Chuck Barkley really struggled.

Yep. He doesn’t have to be polished. With that athleticism he will fill up the stat sheet. Nba teams don’t play hard until they have to for the most part.

The only thing that can stop Zion is bad coaching. If he gets to the NBA and tries to be some kind of ball handler/3 point shooter he will never be great.
Offensive Rebounding is his #1 core competency if he and his coaches dont realize that he will NOT live up to his potential.

I'm not saying he sucks, but people act like he is the clear cut #1 NBA draft pick

Simmons was a better pro prospect than Williamson by FAR and yet his college year was very unsatisfying for a lot of people.
I miss the days before the internet when I didn't know people could be so stupid.
Those were the good ole days.

I think what you’re saying is that he is an elite
College player but you have doubts whether he will be elite in the pros. I can get down with that.
I have a bold prediction. Weight will be an issue for him within a few years.
