Zero upside to the actions JA is taking... all downside.

Suspending Wade and holding out Smart.
If there are issues, these don’t help one bit. LSU will get nailed regardless of it.
But if there aren’t issues, or issues that don’t rise to the level of penalty, Joe just facked a program, a coach and a player.
This is unreal.

Yep
I would say it’s more “par for the course”

You are 100% right.
Joe is hurting LSU. The institution I love and have strong roots.

Will Wade lied and then refused to meet with LSU admins to talk about it.
You've obviously never been in a position to make important decisions.

You make it a habit to make important decisions without having all the facts?
Posted on 3/9/19 at 11:33 am to BugAC
suspension is perfectly fitting as you gather more facts.

If you are afraid of your own shadow, then you are correct.

very likely not true. if he didn't know about these specific taps, he didn't lie (even under the LSU admin's factual allegations)

and then refused to meet with LSU
a. this is likely bullshite. LSU AD leaked a story to cover its arse. this is their talking points to try to get cover with fans and the media
b. even if this is somewhat true, Wade can't really talk to them b/c of the trial. he can't really talk to anyone about this other than his lawyers. he's subpoenaed for a trial and the LSU AD knows this, and they know that he can't talk to them about this (for many legal reasons)

apparently LSU is the only university who feels this way, other than Arizona (and we'll see how Wade's suspension compares to Miller's)

I love LSU and want the basketball team to win, but I don't get why this is so hard for so many people to understand.
When your boss tells you to show up, you show up. If you don't, you get suspended, or fired. Hell, if JA fired WW yesterday just for not showing up when called in, I would completely understand.
Whether we like JA or not, he is still the boss of WW and has a right to demand his employee talk to him.
WW yapping his gums, on a phone call, like a goddamn schoolgirl, is what put us in this position.

it's a false choice and LSU knew that
hell it's likely the story isn't even 100% true. LSU AD clearly leaked information to frick over Wade yesterday
if this was the 100% truth, they'd have stated it in their official statement...but they didn't. they leaked it like a bunch of cowards

He's not been charged, right? I don't understand how an employee can't tell his boss about something that involves the company the boss and employee work for. Hell, he may not even testify.

If this legal stuff is such a big damn deal that an employee and boss can't talk to each other, then WW needs a leave of absence from the program.
You can't run an athletic department if your employees can't talk to you for legal reasons.
Personally, I think the legal excuse is BS. But if that's the card WW is going to play (or has to play) then that by itself is enough of a reason for a suspension / leave of absence.

he's not pleading the 5th. he's going to testify
he has no privilege with the LSU AD, so anything he tells them can lead to more subpoenas and testimony and open up a can of worms
the only people he should speak to this about are his lawyers, priest, and possibly doctor (since all provide a level of protection for communications). the LSU AD knew this and are using this as a wedge to frick over our best basketball coach in decades. it's shameful
there was no need for this meeting. there was certainly no upside to it. this is pure PR spin, and even worse, they didn't even have the balls to state it directly. they leaked it to the media like the scared children they are

there is no reason for the LSU AD to speak to Wade about these allegations at this time

then why didn't they suspend him when he was subpoenaed?
your argument only makes sense if they take that course of action, but they didn't

They only had two realistic choices: Fire him or support him 100%
Then they did the dumbest thing imaginable

the irony is that if Alleva believes Wade should be suspended, by the same argument, Alleva should be suspended

They knew what they were doing. Trying to fire Wade for cause to get out of the contract.

Alleva is apparently so dumb that he doesn’t realize suspending wade essentially points the finger at himself
